According to the wikipedia article, Mike Murdoch raised money for the poor then almost none of it reached the poor.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Murdock
On 3-3-2003, the Associated Press reported Murdock asked followers for money to help the poor but spent more than 60% of donations on overhead, including his salary, and only a tiny amount (reported to be "legal minimums of 1% to 3%") on helping the needy, or any other 'public interest'
There is nothing correspondingly bad in the Munsey article.

Mike Murdock is another one I avoid. He is on the ion channel late at night with Morris Ceurillo's (sp?) son. It looks like the same show repeats every night, but I suppose they are different.
He came to a Charismatic fellowship we attended in the mid 70's, but I don't remember a thing about his message.
Some of these guys will end up in hell...they are thieves and full of coveteousness

This is total nonsense Colonel.
I have a good collection of Avanzini's material ... very balanced material .
His Debt Free Army was a very helpful practical guide in my learning to avoid debt and in understanding Biblical Prosperity.
Dont take one Isolated sound bite or teaching and use to discredit a good man

I did attend a meeting with him when he was here in Oslo in the early nineties. That wasn't long after he wrote some of his major books. He may have changed his tune somewhat since that time.
I'm not saying that everything the man says is wrong.

Some of these people tell the listener to go borrow the money to send to them. That is stupidity. They live off the old and poor and uneducated and make empty promises like they are God Himself. They will have a lot to answer for when they meet their maker.
