In the end, Paul did not overcome his persecutors, they did manage to kill him. But not until God allowed them to. Until then Paul knew that he would be around but at some point he knew that he would not be for much longer. So they weren't able to hinder him from fulfilling his calling.

It seems that there are promises of protection and power when we are in service. I also believe many don't know how to walk in that level of faith...Paul was in that level...so while he was at sea for 3 days and nights and beaten as I noted earlier, he never mentions sickness or disease in his list.

Mark 16 says these signs shall follow them that believe...they shall lay hands on the sick..I dn't believe God intends for us to get sick but when or if we do He has made provision for our healing..

Thinking about Paul at sea...God had warned the sailors not to leave port yet and they went anyway..God told them to through everything overboard..that they would live but ship and cargo would be lost...so while Paul was in the water he understood it was due to the rebellion of others and that he would be kept safe to go to Rome.

Paul understood that no matter what he encountered his mission would succeed ...Paul was a man who demonstrated extraordinary faith and vision.
When we are suffering something our greatest weakness is our lack of vision...IMHO
well i have had signs and wonders done through my hands by the Holy Spirit but then i've prayed 4 people who did not receive healing. why? can we say my faith lacked? can we say their faith lacked? i'm diabetic and i have asked Jesus to take it away. He's response? I will keep it under control if u take care of urself. no instant healing.... was my faith the problem? there's more to this than we think....

People will readily blame God and deny his promises to heal before they will dare question anyone's faith. The Bible tells us to fear God rather than men.

    Hhhhmmmm .....

Well, I will tell you, I LOVE prosperity!!!

I have been without, ... and I have been with, ... with is far better!!!

When my wife and I were in Bible college, one night she said, "I finished paying all the bills. We now have 50 cent in the checking account!" We celebrated with praise to God! We had an abundance! We were rich, ... and had a full supply!

It was a wonderful revelation when we discovered that God delights in prosperity, He takes pleasure in the prosperity of His servants (Ps 35:27).

There is much abuse of spiritual truths on every hand, but we dare not turn away from the clear teachings of the Scriptures because of someone's misuse or extremism. The word of God is clear in that poverty is a curse and Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law that the blessing of Abraham might come on us. Do not lose sight of the fact that the blessing of God on Abraham included financial blessings, ... he was very rich.

I preach prosperity for all of God's children!!!

I second the motion! God does not want us to make an idol out of material things but those things should be used to establish His Kingdom (Deuteronomy 8:18).

Scripture says that Jesus could not heal many in his hometown because of their unbelief
That's a great example of what NOT to do... so, don't be like those guys!

We've had some good discussions in the past about Paul's thorn in the flesh so those posts have been moved into a thread of their own:
