That's what I was taught in Bible School, that he was or became Jesus only. Like Oneness Pentecostals. Or is there a difference ?

William M Branham was Oneness Pentecostal from early in his ministry. Gordon Lindsay persuaded him to downplay the oneness doctrine for a season. Eventually, William M Branham was influenced by some men who made this a major issue and his ministry declined speedily. There was also a bout with the IRS over taxes. Those were major problems, plus the great healing revival waned when many engaged in excess and sensationalism, and Branham decided he was going to be a teacher. Gordon Lindsay and others took great efforts to help him but Branham resisted and it wasn't long before he was in a horrible automobile accident and was gone from the scene.
I recognize problem areas in the life and ministry of William M Branham, ... but I do honor the mighty way God used him. I am just sorry he got off track. ..., and that some misguided people built a cult of personality around him.

That made sense. I think the rendering I heard at Bible School 25 years ago was a bit strange.

No need to feel sorrow or sadness... unless you contributed to his down fall.

Branham grew up "2 seed Baptist".
2 seed Baptist believed that mankind was either born of righteous seed (Abel) or cursed seed (Cain).
He then became oneness Pentecostal and was UPC at one time. The oneness Pentecostals began to withdraw their support of his ministry due to his teaching of serpent seed doctrine, very similar to his teaching in the 2 seed Baptist group.
He eventually had a complete nervous breakdown and went to Mexico for a season to recover. But his ministry never seem to make a comeback after he returned from Mexico.
