There is a false anointing that can make people laugh which can happen.

Also as Catchy mentioned it can be done in the natural by well meaning people. I saw an experienced minister tell people to start laughing in the natural first and then the joy will come...so people began to hahahahaha...but it was just the flesh and did not look or sound good. A bad idea

If you want people to laugh in the natural ...tell them a good joke....

But there is the genuine article and I have seen many laugh their way to victory. Years later they still love and serve Jesus so the fruit is good.

I mean isn't that carrying it a little far Why does there have to be a 'false anointing' that makes people laugh? Why not either they're just laughing by the Spirit or the joy of the Lord, or it's just them? Why would there be a 'false anointing' making people laugh?

I was thinking the same. When the devil convinces Christians that there is a false anointing for everything they end up becoming charismatic-hating cessationists. Doesnt matter if everything is biblical and in the name of Jesus, that fame and fortune isnt involved - its not even the flesh, its just the false anointing, strange fire as MacArthur says.

That said, people are quite capable of joining in on a carnal vibe until lots of people are acting out carnally, there may even be peer pressure to do so when people start thinking in their minds that something spiritual is going on. Laughter is naturally contagious too.

I was actually addressing the OP ....look at the heading

The devil can counterfeit Gods' blessings. The Mormons can speak in tongues. I would call this a false anointing - what would you call it?

People involved in New Age experience all sorts of 'miraculous' stuff like joy or feelings of pleasure. Some of course is natural but if they do their meditation and experience joy/laughter I would consider it a false anointing by a demonic spirit

God's children should have nothing to fear when joy/laughter comes upon them

Instead of jumping to conclusions and bringing in John MacArthur or cessationists or Charismatic haters why not ask what I meant instead of the 'default' comment of charismatic-hating cessationists

As I said to Fuego...I am ANSWERING the HEADING/OP which no one bothered to address

I also made it clear that many have been blessed by the genuine laughter/joy

I prayed for a lady in church who was 'slain in the Spirit' and it was a demon doing it. That way she no longer could get prayer but once on the ground the minister moved to the next person.

She loved Jesus but knew she had a demonic area that needed to be broken. I explained to her that I will pray to cast the demon totally out but she said always 'falls down' when getting prayer.
When you think about it is is a very clever tactic by demons.

So I continued to pray after she fell but this time stayed with her and she was squirming and experiencing a terrible headache and trying to push me away . But I told her we must persist and eventually that thing was broken and gone.

Sorry folks there are demons at work even in the lives of believers and if I just assumed God had 'slain her' then where would she be

It seems that you read my discussion on the topic as a personal accusation directed at you. It was not meant to be that. If you read it carefully it says "when the devil convinces Christians that there is a false anointing for everything". It also mentions "in the name of Jesus" which is not really what Mormons believe in and definitely not what New Agers believe in. There may still be false workers among Charismatics but that is different to there being a false anointing on whatever Biblical phenomena Christians experience in the name of Jesus.

I'd agree that almost anything is possible at the individual level but when we start talking about a false anointing over a congregation of people who normally operate in the Spirit and then all of sudden all go into for instance demonic laughter then that is extreme. A congregation or group of people going from Spirit to flesh and then back is far more likely.

You are exaggerating as I never said whole congregations....why do you embellish what I said.

I have no problem with accepting that there are false anointings at work outside the church and can occur inside.

It hasn't affected me in praying and believing for the miraculous and to see great things occur.
I have prayed for thousands of people over my time in ministry and seen wonderful things happen.

I don't know why believers get offended because I believe false anointings can occur.
This has absolutely nothing to do with cessationism or non charismatic people who write books and slam charismatic practises.

It is what it is....my reply would be....start operating in the discerning of Spirits so you know the difference

Cardinal, thank you for bringing up this point; we have experienced this in prayer ministry several times. I am always "on the move" when someone falls out at a mere touch or even a look. Most ministers laugh and go on, assuming it was the presence of the Lord. Sometimes it is ... but sometimes, maybe even more often, it is exactly as you describe.

We often "soak" a person who has come for healing prayer and falls out before healing actually manifests ... meaning 2 or 3 people will sit with them, lay hands on them, release the Kingdom into them ... sometimes they begin to manifest and the demon is cast out.

    DISCERNMENT.
