Ok, finally listened to it and it was actually pretty good when it started, but then kind of devolved.

Number one, the video should have been titled, "Why satan Sends Hindering Spirits', not "Why God Allows Hindering Spirits."

Another, when reading 2 Corinthians chapter 12 (I actually just read this today before I actually listened to the video) he says, "Paul said this: that because of the abundance of revelation, God allowed there to be a hindering spirit..." Paul DID NOT say that. Paul said there was given to me a messenger of satan send to buffet me...God is not mentioned in allowing this spirit at all. It is clearly stated it is from satan to hinder him. Don't read into the text. This is why our doctrine gets screwed up and we confuse God and the devil.

Now having said that, he starts saying so much stuff I disagree with after that, or says stuff that's out of context with what Paul is actually talking about, that there's too much to address all his statements. So if anybody wants to discuss it, you'll have to listen to the video and I'll address specific things you want to bring up, but other than that I'd be writing a book in here refuting a lot of what he says.

I'll just say this though, only in religions does it make sense for God to give Paul an abundance of revelation, and Paul starts tearing up the devil's kingdom with that revelation, and then God allows/sends a devil to make sure Paul doesn't get proud. Seriously? Really think about how absurd that sounds if you heard the same statement without the context of religion, but in real life about another situation.

And his reason for cutting the comments off, we know why he did that regardless of what he said in the video.

You know I had to come back to add, and I've never heard this term before, it just came to me, but it's just 'sloppy doctrine'. You don't research it out enough. Not enough study and meditation and prayer over it. It really had the making of a good teaching under the title "Why satan Sends Hindering Spirits". But you read something about what satan did, it never mentions God when saying what it was, and then the teaching is all about how God is in it or 'allowed' it.

    James 1:22 (AMP)
22 But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth].

This is exactly what we do. We deceive ourselves because we use our own reasoning and deceive ourselves instead if seeking real revelation about what is being said. We think God is the devil and when it's the devil we think it's God. [/end rant]. :)

I like some things Perry says but don't agree with all of it. I am concerned he is using these verses to explain his situation but imo I don't see Paul's words as applicable to Perry.

Paul did have an extraordinary walk with God and heard many things very clearly. He knew how to defeat devils yet he could not get permanent relief from this spirit.
He asked God 3 times and the Lord spoke clearly that he wanted Paul to put up with it by his grace.
Why didn't Jesus say to fast, pray, rebuke etc....Paul would of tried all these.
Jesus didn't tell Paul he opened the door through sin or bad attitudes.

Even though it was a messenger of satan, God did allow it to trouble Paul his whole life hence the phrase..My grace is sufficient.

I think the problem in evaluating this verse is everyone comes with certain teaching that will colour their view.
I believe in rebuking, casting out, resisting the devil etc etc but this verse implies something different that may stand on its own in special circumstances like Paul.

Believers on either side will try to squeeze this into their theological parameters but maybe it's outside the box because God was doing something unique with Paul.
