Thread: A Fresh Awakening Is At Hand

  1. #11
    I love the prophetic
but what I have seen is,
that some christians prefer nice prophetic words over the Bible.

Some christians are addicted to kind and uplifting prophetic words, they prefer them more then studing the "plain" Bible by themselves.
In no way I am despising prophesy in general, God has given me some gifting in this area.
So then, what exactly did you find offensive or wrong about what was posted?

What (in whole or in part) was not "up to snuff" about it?

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
    (Ephesians 4:17-18)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...
    (Psalm 1)

No, it is encouraging and in keeping with Scripture found in 1Cor14: "But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort."

Why not read the Bible to get comfort and encouragement?
This is not a word spoken to a specific person, group or so, it is so general. I myself prefer a chapter in the Bible over these prophecies.
Let my try a different example.
It is nothing wrong with a McDonald hamburger now and then, but it is not a healthy diet to benefit you.
I mysellf would anytime prefer a self prepared and carefully grilled steak, more effort but also better nutrition

I love the prophetic (having that component in my own life and ministry), I have to ask you a question. Why not have much of both? Your bend on this seems to be very agitated with something about Jesus (though you may not know it) for it is the testimony of Jesus that is the spirit of prophecy (being written or spoken). Today I was reading verses through the Bible about trees. That got me so excited, it is so interesting, encouraging, amazing...

Two translations, the CLV and the TPT (two extremes between literal and loose) use the word "Scorn"

And the NIV uses the word "Contempt".
