I don't think anyone here is judging anyone on the basis of appearances. Brother Farm Truck least of all.

I've had problems with both width when people as broad shouldered as me have sat next to me and also leg length. The latter mostly in third world countries where people are 5 foot tall or something. And also on very old planes a decade or two ago, they mostly have more space these days. Some people who are 300 pounds would be better able to fit into a plane seat if they are narrow shouldered, unless people are trying to get past them while they are sitting down.

I've become an expert at doing things in my plane seat including eating, without moving around my shoulders or elbows.

United does have "economy plus" seats; unfortunately, they only have more leg room, not more width in the seat.

Some other airlines do have enhanced economy seats with more width: http://www.ibtimes.com/ibtraveler/th...paying-1808454

One amenity that would not cost much but would improve passenger comfort is a leg rest - attached to the back of each seat. In the absence of this, I often find myself trying to prop up my feet using the magazine holder.

Up to a point... people need to be taught that Jesus desires to live in them and enable them to overcome things like this as they walk with the Lord.

Too many Christians are making excuses for bad behavior and for demonic oppression these days.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

That's true.. but it's also true that the Lord seeks to correct and teach us so satan doesn't run over us!

Actually... not teaching someone is doing them disservice, so we should offer to teach people so they can grow.

Of course the bigger problem is many are still in need of being taught cause they are still babies when they should be grown up by now and should be teaching.

But I understand these are the end times when deception is running rampant so making excuses to enable people to stay the same is considered "walking in love" these days.

Some are teaching that the Holy Spirit absolutely will not correct anybody cause everybody is perfect and sin free and God accept you just how you are... if folks participate in sinful lifestyles, they say it's all good you goin to Heaven anyway.

Never said I wouldn't help someone find their way to healing and wholeness...

But shaming them is not the way to get them there.

"Hey fat guy. You need Jesus."

    Yeah. That would work.

Didn't say I was going to say that to the fat folks... on the other hand, just cause the guy is fat does not mean others are required to suffer just cause he cannot control his flesh, so he needs to pay for two seats or get off the airplane.

That is fair for all involved and he would be more comfortable since he'll have a wider area to park his back side in.

Guess we have to agree to disagree.

    Pay for 2 seats? No.

Pay for a seat he knows he'd be more comfortable in? Maybe.

Most people can't afford to pay for 2 seats or even premium seating of some kind.

Obviously, you've never had a weight issue.

    It's not that simple.

If it was, there wouldn't be all that surgery going on for people to lose weight and those who chose that route find it's not even easy that way.
