Thread: Conservative Christian Leader Blasts Anti-Refugee Rhetoric, Calls For Compassion

And President Hollande of France, while stepping up the war against ISIS, is at the same time stating that France will continue to accept Syrian refugees. He understands that the two policies are not mutually-inconsistent.

In a move that puts the heated U.S. debate over taking in Syrian refugees in perspective, French President Francois Hollande declared on Wednesday that his country would accept 30,000 Syrian refugees over next two years. He announced this at a gathering of mayors from French cities, where he received a standing ovation.

Hollande said that "30,000 refugees will be welcomed over the next two years. Our country has the duty to respect this commitment." He indicated that resettled refugees would undergo rigorous security checks, according to ABC News. He said there would be a 50 million euro investment fund used to support housing for refugees.

Hollande said it was France's "humanitarian duty" to honor its commitments to refugees, even in the wake of the chilling terror attacks on Friday, claimed by the Islamic State, which killed at least 129 people.

"We have to reinforce our borders while remaining true to our values," the French president said.

The message flies in the face of recent statements by American Republican presidential hopefuls and governors, who have all cited the security concerns surrounding the terror attacks as reasons to halt resettlement of Syrian refugees in the United States. Some have proposed only allowing in Christian refugees, at the expense of Muslim ones.

The answer is in God's Book!

Right! God is not whackin His children but He does occasionally lead them to places knowing they will die there..again, Paul..Stephan for another.

God did not take them, the devil does not have enough power to kill them... so apparently, they missed something.

Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.
With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
BEFORE THEIR TIME....so apparently Stephan was stoned AT HIS TIME...

Why do you supposed it was that missed something?

It is this very point that our president refuses to consider...he wants them to come in with no security investigation.

I do wonder how France will handle these rigorous security checks of 30,0000 people in two years...sounds like a lot of money and labor and hopefully by people who take their job seriously..here in the US I would not trust the ones this current administration would put in place..

This isn't the first time our country has turned away refugees:

An estimated half of the passengers were to die later, after both the US and Cuba rejected their pleas for refuge and the cruel 40-day journey sent them back to Europe to face the Nazis. Some 59 years after the St. Louis's desperate passage back and forth across the Atlantic, the US Holocaust Memorial Museum and its Survivors' Registry are trying to trace the fates of its passengers, including Recha Weiler, the 61-year-old widow originally from Cologne.

Seems when we intervene too soon we are accused of being land grabbing colonists..and when we delay we are accused of be calloused and indifferent.
Not sure we will ever make that perfect decision.
We did delay getting into that war until we were forced into it...some regard that a good decision and some view it as tragically flawed in hindsight.
My guess is either way we chose we would be drastically criticized...

America is not the cause of these wars and is not 'responsible' to fix the woes of tyrannical controlled nations.

Having said that I would add that our leaders are not saying NO to refugees...they are insisting on security checks. That is just common sense in light of the agenda and strategies of ISIS..

Question...who here would take homeless people into your home without questioning their background, mental and judicial history? Hmmm?
