Arrow WHO warns against COVID-19 lockdowns due to economic damage

-The World Health Organization has warned leaders against relying on COVID-19 lockdowns to tackle outbreaks — after previously saying countries should be careful how quickly they reopen.

WHO envoy Dr. David Nabarro said such restrictive measures should only be treated as a last resort, the British magazine the Spectator reported in a video interview.

"We in the World Health Organization do not advocate lockdowns as the primary means of control of this virus," Nabarro said.

"The only time we believe a lockdown is justified is to buy you time to reorganize, regroup, rebalance your resources, protect your health workers who are exhausted, but by and large, we'd rather not do it."

Nabarro said tight restrictions cause significant harm, particularly on the global economy.

"Lockdowns just have one consequence that you must never, ever belittle, and that is making poor people an awful lot poorer," he said...

I wonder if you'll see the left media and dems bringing that out even though they've generally parroted WHO? No. It doesn't suit their agenda.

The difference is that now they know approximately the real world power of the virus so they know that going too far with hindering it is more damaging than the virus itself is, to society as a whole. They didn't know that in March. The Norwegian Health department stipulated a death toll of 25,000 (which corresponds to around 1.5 million in the US) back in March but the current death toll is 276.

Right, the facts are now in and yet the democrats want continued long lockdowns and fight those who need their businesses to reopen.

The WHO is fully able to change their position on lockdowns. Wait for it.

When covid is no longer a thing, I wonder if every flu virus will become a pandemic or put our state back into an emergency.

Your governor went way over board, hopefully she'll be voted out. Florida is reeling because we are a bit dependent on hospitality and tourism for a big chunk of the economy. The coming snowbird season will be very important for many.

And you won't hear a peep from CNN, MSNBC, or the dems.
