The sheriff's office arrested two Erie men this week for making illegal booze. Twelve gallons of "White Mule" were found buried in the dirt floor of a shed in the middle of Erie. A barrel containing mash was also found. Fermenting in the mash were prunes, raisins, lemons, potatoes, oranges, corn and barley.

In City Brevities column:
"We know the person who took the contents of a purse at 1113 10th Ave. Kindly return the railroad ticket to Tulsa, Okla. Keep the money and no questions asked."

Thirty-four million immigrants have entered the United States in the past 100 years. The population of the U.S.A, in the past 100 years, has increased by 97,000,000.

Colorado State Teachers College here in Greeley will open for students on Sept. 27. Excellent work will be offered in each department under the supervision of experts. There is also a fine cafeteria.

The Swastika Luncheon Club will meet this week for the first luncheon of the year. Food will be served at 1 p.m. Tuesday at 814 5th St.

It was announced today that Franklin D. Roosevelt is on a national speaking tour and will speak in Greeley, Fort Collins and Boulder on Oct. 8. He is the Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Navy.

At Greeley High School, 71 students, all boys, have enrolled in the Agricultural Courses. The courses include animal husbandry, farm management, poultrying, gardening and dairying.

Babe Ruth, heavy hitter of the New York Americans, hit his 50th homerun of the season today.

Because of the start of the sugar season at the sugar beet producing factories and the state of college, there are no rooms available at hotels in Greeley. One visitor who brought his daughter here for college couldn't find a room for them overnight and went to the police for help. Police found lodging for the daughter, and the dad spent the night sleeping in the Greeley City Hall.

Amos is a quiet child in Greeley, and when his mother asked him why he played by himself most of the time and didn't play with other children, Amos said, "Oh, they disturb my think. I like to be alone with me."

The comment in a story which stated a traveler "slept with a pig in the bed for warmth," did not mean he actually slept with a pig. The quote came from a story in England, where many refer to a hot-water bottle as a "pig."
