Hurricanes are not mentioned in the bible, the closest you'll get are things like "violent waves", "mighty tempests", etc. In some cases where
lives were endangered the Lord did intervene. We see here that the Lord actually sent a tempest in order to capture Jonahs full attention..
Jonah 1:4 But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.
Once Jonah was delivered into the sea to be swallowed up by a whale the Lord relented and the "mighty tempest" subsided.
Jonah 1:15: So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.
We can also see from ...
Matthew 8:24-27 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying,
Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him! ...
that Jesus rebuked winds and waves that were
life threatening.
We don't need cat 5 hurricanes to maintain lakes, aquifers and temperatures, aggressive but not life threatening storms would do the job just fine. BTW, most "hurricanes" are pretty much media hype. If you go to the actual weather stations and get the wind data, you'll see how much the media lies about them. Next time one pops up we'll follow along.
