Well the word translated "appearances" occurs only in Jn 7:24, Jn 11:44 where it is translated face and Rev 1:16 where it is translated countenance (all KJV translations).
It is elsewhere translated in Jn 7:24 as "outward appearances" (HCSB) or "external appearance" (NET).
James said "you pay special attention to the one who is wearing the fine clothes, and say, "You sit here in a good place," and you say to the poor man, "You stand over there, or sit down by my footstool,""

We recently has plumbing problems. If someone from an IT help desk arrived to fix it I would not first try understand what he was trying to do before rejecting his help.

The power of God saves people who are dead in their sin having no interest in God let alone the ability in themselves to do anything about it. JMac doesn't deny that.
But someone who goes out claiming that demons cause hurricanes and that they can stop the hurricane by rebuking them, and then has to delay doing it because it's too hot and the need to find shade, and of course they fail, and she tells kids that she's been to heaven and there are T-Rex's there and theme parks with a huge roller coaster and that pets got to heaven and that there is sport in heaven and "Each team has a place on the scoreboard, but all the points go to Jesus". Come on Colonel, do you really "need to understand what she's trying to do" before saying "Na!"?
