The number of quakes in Ok have been reduced due to the state getting on the oil companies. There were maybe 3 during the summer.
The boom goes with the quake. We have heard it and my sis in Anchorage says the boom is part of it.

Detroit sits above a lot of salt mines so before the quake was confirmed some wondered if there might have been a collapse.

I never heard of that before so I did a quick search and apparently if it's a shallow quake you will hear a boom, and ours was classified as a shallow earthquake in Lake Erie.
"...Small shallow earthquakes sometimes produce rumbling sounds or booms that can be heard by people who are very close to them. High-frequency vibrations from the shallow earthquake generate the booming sound; when earthquakes are deeper, those vibrations never reach the surface. Sometimes the earthquakes create booming sounds even when no vibrations are felt."
