UN food agency chief: World on brink of 'a hunger pandemic'
UNITED NATIONS -- The head of the U.N. food agency warned Tuesday that, as the world is dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, it is also "on the brink of a hunger pandemic" that could lead to "multiple famines of biblical proportions" within a few months if immediate action isn't taken.
World Food Program Executive Director David Beasley told the U.N. Security Council that even before COVID-19 became an issue, he was telling world leaders that "2020 would be facing the worst humanitarian crisis since World War II." That's because of wars in Syria, Yemen and elsewhere, locust swarms in Africa, frequent natural disasters and economic crises including in Lebanon, Congo, Sudan and Ethiopia, he said.
Beasley said today 821 million people go to bed hungry every night all over the world, a further 135 million people are facing "crisis levels of hunger or worse," and a new World Food Program analysis shows that as a result of COVID-19 an additional 130 million people "could be pushed to the brink of starvation by the end of 2020...

I think it's time to get Biblical and start stoning false prophets.
It will take a while to get through all the Climate Change ones though as that started so long ago a lot of the original ones would have dies naturally by now.

I have a friend in ministry in Pakistan. I posted this on FB.
"I have a friend in Pakistan who says people are literally starving to death because of the lock downs. People who were barely surviving on day work now have nothing to buy food for their families. He told me of one mother who poisoned her 3 children and then committed suicide because it was better than watching her children starve. We may be having a hard time here in North America but I don't think we're yet facing the kind of starvation that some nations are facing. This is serious, folks."
And actually, my friend showed me pictures in Messenger of the mom and her kids. You can't just let that roll off...

Greater India, which is Pakistan, India and Bangladesh after the 1947 liberation from the British empire, has a long history of mass suicides under adverse conditions. I don't doubt that things are bad though.

The problem is that we don't really know if we can trust them more than WHO, the climate change prophets (as FFO mentioned) and so forth. This could amount to one NGO battling it out with an other with each their own "worst case scenario", which means that the truth is somewhere in between.
