I am not a believer in Col. Silver. It did nothing for me. But each has to make up their own mind. I had missionary friends who went ballistics over it. He and his wife who were retired, drank it and made great claims about it. He was a brilliant man who worked as a scientist and traveled the country debating other scientists over evolution. He died within 6 weeks after the silver and she died in three months. Don't know if it was related to silver, but do know he was consuming it. He even made it and sold it. I threw my Silver solution away for good. But it is a person's free choice.

I was a huge fan of Jim and Tammy when I was first saved (in the early 80's) - I was just so thrilled to find "Christian TV" like TBN and his broadcast, that I swallowed it all, hook, line, and sinker...
After a few years, they started coming across as more concerned with selling "Product," than they were with soul saving - They began to sound like used car salesmen and con artists, and I became disillusioned - And then the "BIG Fall" happened, and I was totally saddened and undone.
However, I did buy and read his book, "I Was Wrong" - It really was very good, and I hoped he had truly repented, and learned from his mistakes, but when he resurfaced with a "new" wife, and his "new" TV program, it seemed the old leopard had not "changed his spots" at all.
So, I pray he gets it right, and will stop trying to "con" God's people, before it's ever-lasting too late.

I know he doesn't believe in the Prosperity gospel like he once did. That is good. I know Tammy Faye asked for the divorce and married their best friend and builder of PTL. I was really upset with that as he was in jail and then she divorces him and seems to live a prosperous life until she died of cancer - which was very sad. I think fame and popularity got the best of them. I also believe if Charlotte (city) had left him alone, he would have built all that he said he would. He and Jimmy Swaggert have both bounced back and God is a restorer. He admitted he was wrong. He definitely was a broken man.

I was quite taken back when Tammy and Roe Messner hooked up. I could not fathom that nor imagine how Jim felt. The Sunday when Jimmy announced his sin was unforgettable in our church that night. That had impact. I was a youth pastor on staff with 3 older pastors. The fall of the Jimmies. The Assemblies of God was hit hard and most of us rather embarrassed for it.

It was a sad time when Bro. Swaggert got caught and he did make a public apology but it really floored me when he got caught again. I don't think he made another public apology that I know of. I really felt sorry for his wife. His ministry suffered but he too bounced back. I watch him because of the good singing.. He can sing and play. God forgives and I think we forgive them too but trust has to be earned especially after a fall. I wished they both had taken correction from the Assembly of God Headquarters. That is what they were supposed to do.

You would think with what he's been through though he would be a little more merciful towards other preachers and believers.

You are very right. He criticizes most of them if they aren't connected with him. We have noticed that. I remember his making a statement when Bakker fell that we need to rid the cancer in the body of Christ. That was not any way to treat a fellow brother and then just a few months later. he got caught. My husband was reading a commentary of his and right in it, he criticized TBN. A commentary is to help explain the Bible more clearly not to run down another ministry. He does reach a lot of people and I am sure he helps them and that is good. USUALLY what a preacher preaches on the most or all the time is their own personal problem. Just my observation. I could be totally wrong.

The very definition of a hypocrite.
