Kidney stone attack turned out to be surprise triplet delivery

-A South Dakota mother was shocked to find the painful kidney stones she had been experiencing was actually her going into labor — and the surprise birth of triplets.

Dannette Giltz, already a mother of two, said she was rushed to the hospital on Aug. 10 because of pains.

"I figured it was kidney stones because I've went through them before," she told KOTA, not realizing she was 34 weeks pregnant.

But a doctor told her she was going into labor, and that she should expect to have a newborn set of twins. While her husband, Austin, was contemplating what to name their new babies, someone at the hospital asked for a third blanket — indicating a third baby would soon be born.

"His reaction is like, 'Excuse me, put it back, no, I was told I have twins, I'm not doing triplets,'" Giltz said of her husband. "She's like, 'No, there's three babies in here, there are triplets.'"

The babies — two girls and a boy named Gypsy, Nikki and Blaze — were born within four minutes of each other, and each weighing around 4 pounds...

I hate it when that happens.

I always find these stories hard to believe, but I guess it’s possible a woman, (having experienced being pregnant at least twice), after approx. 34 weeks of pregnancy, feeling movement in her stomach for 6 months, and carrying 16 pounds of weight in her mid-section, can mistake labor pains for kidney stones. I just don’t buy it. Can it be a case of “Mama’s baby, papa’s maybe?” IJS

So this story isn't clear to me if she knew she was pregnant already with twins, and was surprised at the triplets. I know she thought the pains were kidney stones, but is it saying she had no idea she was pregnant at all? It's not written very clear to me.

Right, that's a lot of extra weight and a lot of movement. Maybe she's a very large lady?

    Is this better?

That's from the article. Not clear. It sounds like it could be saying that she knew she was pregnant with twins, but thought this pain was kidney stones. And the surprise was she was actually delivering now and not kidney stones, and the other surprise was triplets.

    from the article

It has been known to happen that a woman didn't know she was pregnant, but I can't imagine being that far along and not know.

Ok, now that's clear. I must have missed that. :)

Especially that far along with triplets.
