The other thing, she would almost always include gospel songs in her concerts and she didn't care who didn't like it. She would take off shouting and having church.

...The singer - dubbed the "Queen of Soul" - passed away on the same day the "King of Rock n' Roll" Elvis Presley died 41 years ago today....

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
    (Ephesians 4:17-18)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...

I don't know much about her but from what I have recently read she had a bad childhood and grew up with a father who was a minister but also a sexual deviant.

After her upbringing it's a good sign she still believed in God but the gospel music scene in both black and white cultures has a lot of vanity, carnality and immorality.

Although we don't yet know when the funeral will be held, we now know specific details about it:

It will be a four-day event to celebrate her life.
For two days, Franklin's body will lie in repose at Charles H. Wright Museum for African American History. The viewing will be open to the public.
The funeral will be held at Greater Grace Temple and will only be for close family and friends.
Organizers are working on a musical tribute with major recording artists. The venue is still being decided.
Right now, Franklin's body is being held at Swanson Funeral Home in Detroit.
An exact date for the funeral is still being determined.

I was reading her bio and didn't realize how bad she had it, her mom died when she was young and Aretha already had 2 kids by the time she was 14...and as you said her dad was quite promiscuous, even having a baby by a 12 girl who was member of his congregation.

Aretha had a baby by her own father who was the pastor I think when she was around 13? The child was mentally retarded.
