Suicide is on the increase in the U.S.

For the last year I've been teaching on spiritual warfare in the church and one of the area's I teach on is the stages of (s)atanic attack on the mind which is sin based nature, oppression, depression, and suicide. I found this article very interesting...

Our church got a huge slap of a wakeup call last December when a familiy’s 36yr old son took his life. We had several suicides in this little town last year.

I think a lot of this trend can be attributed to the Financial Meltdown/Heist that occurred ten years ago. No one was punished, a real economy was replaced with economic propaganda (recovery stories). While most have recovered to some extent financially, some haven't. That loss and the greater loss of dignity, knowing we've been conned and laughed at has been overwhelming for many.

“But our research shows something more alarming — these increases are occurring in places that have been struggling for many years: places where incomes have been stagnant and poverty rates have been high. The pressures on middle-class and low-income families are considerable … and it’s taking its toll.”
When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.

Spiritual Warfare! Only recently has our non-denom community church delved into what true intercession is. To this point over the past 50yrs and more we have had a prayer-list, pray at home mentality and method. I’m here to tell you, IT DOES NOT FUNCTION. Not to mention the Calvinist influences on those praying. Our town has Catholic, Presby, UMC, one smaller upstart non-denom and us. We are taking ahold. Currently studying Dutch Sheet’s “Intercessory Prayer” and suddenly people are excited, motivated and enlightened. Then comes the “oh this is why this has been beating us up” realization.

Intercession is powerful AND we need people to be aware of depression and hopelessness.

"It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain," the network said in a statement Friday morning. "His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller.

"His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time."
Bourdain joined CNN five years ago. In an email to employees, the network's president, Jeff Zucker, remembered him as an "exceptional talent."
"Tony will be greatly missed not only for his work but also for the passion with which he did it," Zucker wrote.
Viewers around the world felt connected to Bourdain through his fearless travels, his restless spirit and his magical way with words. Fans, fellow chefs, celebrities and friends reacted to his death with stunned sorrow.
"My heart breaks for Tony Bourdain," CNN's chief international correspondent, Christiane Amanpour, wrote on Twitter. "May he rest in peace now"

    My heart hurts.

I just heard on CNN that he had been a heavy drug user, so much so that he really should have died in his 20's.

This on the heels of Kate Spade.

    Wow.

I agree bro... I have been teaching on self identification and the mindset of the believer. I have been teaching on the mechanics of the spiritual mindset and the transformation/renewing process. I am amazed at the babies I deal with some in their 70's and up.

I was about to mention that book to you. In the top 10 of books I've read, maybe top 5. They don't don't get much better than that for practical revelation.

Those that are teaching this book in 2 of our smaller groups didnt have a clue on what they were getting into. They are mildly shocked at what they didnt know. When we geared up for small groups my lead elder asked if any of the 3 of authors and they didnt know Dutch Sheets. I was grinning ear to ear with joyful entertainment. I replied a simple yes, I know him and vouch for him since I have his other books.

You just cant find a better book. I surmise it is because he comes from a pastoral perspective.

Crazy, isnt it? Like Paul said, “some of you ought to be teachers by now”.
