Curing Disease - Not Profitable
Goldman Sachs has outdone itself this time. That's saying a lot for an investment firm that both helped cause and then exploited a global economic meltdown, increasing its own wealth and power while helping to boot millions of Americans out of their homes.
But now Goldman Sachs is openly saying in financial reports that curing people of terrible diseases is not good for business.
I wish this were a joke. It sounds like a joke. In fact, I'll show you later that it used to be one of my favorite jokes. But first, the facts.
In a recent report, a Goldman analyst asked clients: "Is curing patients a sustainable business model?" Salveen Richter wrote: "The potential to deliver 'one-shot cures' is one of the most attractive aspects of gene therapy. ... However, such treatments offer a very different outlook with regard to recurring revenue versus chronic therapies. ... While this proposition carries tremendous value for patients and society, it could represent a challenge for genome medicine developers looking for sustained cash flow."

Uh-huh, I've been saying this for years - There's big money in keeping people running back and forth to the doctors, hospitals and pharmacies.

Do you know what would happen to the economy, hospitals, etc, if they found a cure for cancer? It ain't happening. A whole mega-industry would collapse.

Thank God there is a cure! His name is Jesus!
I know of people, even family members that have experienced good health all of their lives, and the doctors couldn’t stand it! They’d try to get them to take different medicine just to keep them coming back, IMHO. Thank God my father stop taking those statins that were causing memory loss. Unfortunately, my mother believes almost anything her doctor tells her. So I just keep her in prayer because nothing I say convinces her that they’re just out to make money. I read the average doctor makes a million dollars off one patient during their lifetime!

So, the question begging to be asked is.. why is Pharma/Medical so profitable?

The answer is in the OP. Recurring revenue and sustained cash flow. If a patient is cured of their malady, the cash stops flowing. Also, Like fuego mentioned, if the drug and medical community offer a cure to the patient suffering an infirmity, the cash cow is retired to the pasture. Sickness and disease is a billion dollar business. The last thing pharma/medical establishments want is a cure because their profits would come to a halt. Keep um sick, keep um coming back, keep the lines long, is why these professions are profitable.
They don't want it to happen!

I was one of the blessed ones to not have to come back. I have been cured from prostate cancer because of prayer and an operation offered through the medical profession.

Because of so much disease, etc. Nothing is profitable without it's root support, which in this case is 'sickness', physical or mental.
