Yes, I do. Being black and an outspoken Conservative (particularly the controversial comments he spoke to how poor blacks were raising their children), played very much into this.

Those women were approached and encouraged to talk to silence Cosby and cause him embarrassment. If he were a liberal Democrat he would be home free because they protect their own.

How dare he criticize black parents about giving their non producing, poor grade earning children expensive sneakers, and speaking bad English.

And that’s just about all I have to say about it, because I know what the responses will be.

I won’t hold my breath because I don’t have much faith in the Criminal Justice system when it comes to prosecuting influential, wealthy white males. IJS But we’ll see.

People gave him the title, "America's dad".A supposedly moral voice in Hollywood, yet criticized by black liberals for his views. I don't think he considers himself conservative, but he did buck against the prevalent black liberal viewpoints in some areas, like rap/hip hop.

Arelia, I think we posted at the same time, I wasn't disagreeing with you re: him being conservative. I think he identified with the prevalent black liberal thought, but in some areas he spoke against some things that made some folks upset...

He may not consider himself Conservative, but his public comments definitely were. He grew up in an era when most black Americans were conservative and held to that world view. Same as my parents & grandparents.

When his son was murdered, Cosby didn’t fly off the handle against the police investigating like some of the black so-called leaders did...

He publicly stated that he had every confidence that the L.A. Police Dept. would work hard on solving the case and get justice for his son. Which they did. Some folks didn’t even appreciate his positive comments concerning the L.A. police.

Maybe he did identify with the black liberal thought, I just never got that impression from his public remarks.

I hear you...you're right, that generation was definitely conservative, even if it was in private and in terms of raising their children. But by and large that didn't spill over into the voting booth. Yep there were black conservatives in that generation but didn't all that change with FDR? I think so. In other words, my mom and gm would NOT have voted for Trump but they did vote for Milliken and Romney back in the day. ( for MI governor)

I do agree with ya, Sis. that some of his accusers were probably paid and encouraged to try to bring him down, based on his "Quit complaining and get a job!" comments - Which I highly applauded, by the way, BUT...

I also think and truly believe that he was a predator who drugged and raped women, whenever he could get away with it.

Seems like I read he hadn't been tried criminally against the others is because this lady's is the only one so far that hadn't passed the statute of limitations.

I met Cosby years ago (I worked on his security detail when the NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner was held in Detroit), and found him to be somewhat of a snob. Didn't care much for him after that.

However, that didn't take away from what he did for black Americans in the entertainment business. He opened a lot of doors, and I respect his work. He's never done anything in his movies or TV work that was degrading or lewd, and I appreciate that.

On another note. I saw Jerry Seinfeld recently on the Stephen Colbert show several months ago. Colbert asked Seinfeld how he felt about Cosby and all the controversy surrounding him. Seinfeld responded, "well, it's hard, but I can still respect the work without condoning Cosby's actions, right?" Colbert responded, "no." Seinfeld then said, "really, I can't respect his work." Again Colbert responds "no."

Seinfeld then caves and retracts his admiration and respect for Cosby's work. I lost respect for him at that moment because his whole act is based off Bill Cosby. Cosby was the one person Seinfeld studied more than anyone when he was breaking into the business, now he loses respect for his work because Colbert said he can't respect it? I was done. SMH
