False Report to Kill/SWAT Team Results in Murder

Police are investigating whether the call that led police to the home was a so-called "swatting" prank, in which someone makes up a false report to get a Swat team to descend upon a home.

Such pranks are common among online gamers. Lisa Finch, the mother of the dead man, said he did not play video games.

Lisa Finch told the Wichita Eagle 28-year-old Andrew Finch, the father of two young children, was unarmed when he opened the door to the family home on Thursday night after hearing something.

She said he screamed and was shot.

The family then was forced outside barefoot in freezing cold, she said, her granddaughter being forced to step over her dying uncle. Family members were handcuffed, she said, placed in separate police vehicles and taken in for questioning.

Seems the prankster reported a kidnapping and killing which resulted in the swat response...I would not call that murder....I would call it an evil set up...

Maybe we should call it state sanctioned murder. If you have a badge, you get away with it.

Not murder by definition..Swat never intended to kill an innocent man....so I would call it an accidental killing of an innocent man due to false information...

No different from a soldier entering a dangerous situation and reacting to a perceived threat....it's bad, it's sad but it happens....if anyone is guilty and should be prosecuted it is the man who called it in...I would not be surprised if he did not have a grudge against this man and/or family...thus a set up...

Police aren't "soldiers" and citizens are not enemy combatants, therein is the real problem. Apparently you are comfortable with that type of authority. A badge is a license to murder, we don't know why the shooter was motivated to kill an unarmed man. The official line will be (as always) that he "feared for his life", maybe he just wanted wanted to pop someone.

Murder is murder, killing innocent life.

Livingston said the man moved a hand toward the area of his waistband a common place where guns are concealed. An officer, fearing the man was reaching for a gun, fired a single shot.

And this is the problem. Too many trigger happy police. This man should not be dead. Just like the got that was shot crawling on his hands and knees complying with what the police told him.

the person who filed the false report is the murderer.

I hope s/he is charged and goes to jail (unless there's a death penalty for it)

Of course, that defense would NEVER fly if you were the shooter. It's laughable.

I shot him because I got a scary phone call!..... click..off to jail ya go.

Of course all the headlines (corrupt, compliant media) read "Prankster responsible for death of man". lol lol

Could it be that American police officers are so geared towards avoiding attacks that they end up killing or wounding lots of innocents in the process ? I'm not thinking about the few police officers that have a murder wish but in general. The incarceration rate per population is 10 times as high in the US as in Norway but the number of people per population killed by the police is 100 times as high. The crime rate obviously isn't way over 10 times as high per population. That's an enormous discrepancy.

They do it and get away with it because most in US have bought into the fear, that we need militarized police.
