Chip and Joanna Gaines Announce the End of 'Fixer Upper'

Chip and Joanna Gaines, beloved stars of the popular HG-TV show "Fixer Upper," have announced that this fifth season of the show will be the last.

Chip and Joanna are known not only for their genius in regard to fixing up houses and designing new living spaces, but for their Christian faith and committed relationship.

Their commitment to God, to each other, and to their family has made them special stars in the eyes of many fans, and especially among their fellow Christians.

Despite the show's success, the couple decided that they needed to close this chapter of their lives.

"We have poured our blood, sweat and tears into this show," the couple announced on Joanna's blog. "We would be foolish to think we can go and go and fire on all cylinders and never stop to pause."

"This is just us recognizing that we need to catch our breath for a moment," they added. "Our plan is to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our business."

Chip also reflected on the journey that led up to the show:

"I remember it like it was yesterday. Five years ago, roughly, we were contacted by a production company who wanted to do a show about us here in our beautiful hometown of Waco, Texas. One thing led to another and of course a pilot was born, called 'Fixer Upper.' And this journey has been indescribable, the opportunity of a lifetime. Our family has grown up before our eyes, on national television, which is an experience that I can tell you is beautiful."

Though they are closing the door on "Fixer Upper," the couple is by no means letting go of their creativity. They are reportedly opening a new restaurant in Waco, Texas, working on book projects, partnering with well-known retailers, and, of course, managing their business, Magnolia Market.

Their Magnolia brand is huge, and they're set for life financially.

... I love it that they realize when it's time to let go, and move on and focus on what's important to them and their family. - I'm sure they've seen some things in the "industry" also that made their decision to change directions easier.

I wish them Godspeed, and hope they continue to honor the Lord in all that they do.
