Seahawks, Titans, Steelers stay in locker rooms during national anthem

-Three NFL teams stayed in their locker rooms during the national anthem ahead of NFL games on Sunday, as a growing number of players from other teams joined in protest by kneeling on the field.

As the national anthem rang out at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, neither the Tennessee Titans nor the Seattle Seahawks were out on the field. Earlier in the day in Chicago, all but one of the Pittsburgh Steelers remained in the locker room during the anthem ahead of their game against the Bears.

Ahead of Sunday night's game, many Oakland Raiders and Washington Redskins sat or kneeled, as others stood and linked arms.

In all, more than 100 NFL players from several teams across the country kneeled or locked arms Sunday, after President Trump lashed out at the protesters and called for those who disrespect the flag to be fired or suspended...

The MSM and Liberals bashed Tim Tebow when he kneeled for God, yet these overpaid, immature clowns get a pass.

One thing is for certain, Trump made it worse by what he said. It was slowing dying, or had slowed down. Then he made his statement and every team in every stadium had a protest and even the owners and coaches got involved. He needs to realize he doesn't need to comment on everything.

True. But I think Trump's "trump" card, so to speak, is his ability to tap into the genuine anger many Americans have. His words are like throwing a lighted match into a can of gasoline. We who are angry are the gasoline and I think quite a lot of angry Americans think it's about time someone threw a match into our gas can. It seems to be the only way conservatives get a hearing.

IMO the spirit behind it is division and disunity pretending to be against police racism

There are police racists that need exposing and removal but there has to be better ways to protest police racism if that is their motive.

How many of these rich powerful athletes actually help poor blacks in struggling communities

Also I do agree with Fuego that Trump is better off not responding on some of these issues

I think quite a lot of them do. Some of them set up foundations or contribute time and money to worthwhile organizations.

But they never go back and live there and try to stop the horrendous violence, abuse, murder in these areas.

It's much easier to denigrate the police than to actually solve the bigger problems.

Who do the rich athletes call if criminals break into their homes to steal and kill?

What I found especially mind-boggling about President Trump's speech is his criticism of the NFL for enacting new rules to protect the physical safety of players:

When the NFL ratings are down massively, massively. The NFL ratings are down massively. Now the number one reason happens to be they like watching what's happening... with yours truly. They like what's happening. Because you know today if you hit too hard—15 yards! Throw him out of the game! They had that last week. I watched for a couple of minutes. Two guys, just really beautiful tackle. Boom, 15 yards! The referee gets on television, his wife is sitting at home, she's so proud of him. They're ruining the game! They're ruining the game. That's what they want to do. They want to hit! It is hurting the game.

Has he not heard about the epidemic of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) among former players?

New findings from a study on the crippling brain disease Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), which is linked to individuals who sustain repeated blows to the head or who are subject to repetitive brain trauma, showed that nearly every former NFL player’s brain examined during research revealed evidence of CTE.

The findings released Tuesday were part of a study conducted by two leading medical institutions devoted to CTE research — the VA Boston Healthcare System and Boston University School of Medicine — and the results concluded that of 111 NFL players’ brains that were donated to science after the players’ deaths, 110 (99%) were found to have CTE. The disease currently can only be diagnosed post-mortem. -- http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/fo...icle-1.3355228

Just came across this and this athlete says what I said earlier about division

I don't know who he is but obviously a former star of the game

Former NFL great Burgess Owens believes NFL players who protest the national anthem are sowing nothing but division and despair.
