What the president is addressing is just one of the symptoms of the disease that is eating at our nation from the inside, like a cancer: LACK OF PATRIOTISM

Here is an idea. Let's help those who don't love our nation and those who would love to be a part of our nation. I propose that we send these NFL players to Mexico to live. For each dissatisfied football player we send, we accept one Mexican family to receive citizenship and make the most of of the opportunities that we have here.

If they don't want to go to Mexico, there is always North Korea or Syria.

I remember that when I was younger we used to have a certain bumper sticker, and I think maybe it is time to revive it once again:

AMERICA: LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!

I would say that a person who protests what he feels are bad/immoral policies still loves our nation; he would like to see the nation move closer to its own stated ideals. To me, that is a patriotic act. (Not saying I agree with this particular form of protest, as it offends people without adding much in the way of informational value; I'm referring to protest in general.)

Yep! - It's easy to protest and criticize, and then return to your million-dollar home, in your safe and secure gated community.

While it's true that many of these players give back to the communities, far too many just jump on the "bandwagon" against "The Establishment," without realizing that it's the peeps in the establishment who have made them millionaires!!!

The folks that they are protesting for and/or with, usually aren't the ones buying the majority of their merchandise or tickets to their games.

I understand what you're saying Tom, but overall, it also kinda feels like the guy who "loves his wife," but he occasionally punches her in the face, and says, "Look what you made me do."

Trump is brilliant, he really is. He speaks to his base and he makes others lose their minds and act in ways that totally anger Trumps "huuuuge" base even more. He actually has the other side doing more of the work shoring up his base. His base is so much larger than what the polls are picking up on because so many are supporters in secret because of their fears of losing their jobs and the harassment they receive from liberals. If people don't realize this is calculated, they aren't paying attention.

They like what's happening. Because you know today if you hit too hard—15 yards! Throw him out of the game! They had that last week. I watched for a couple of minutes. Two guys, just really beautiful tackle. Boom, 15 yards! The referee gets on television, his wife is sitting at home, she's so proud of him. They're ruining the game! They're ruining the game. That's what they want to do. They want to hit! It is hurting the game.

Has he not heard about the epidemic of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) among former players?

New findings from a study on the crippling brain disease Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), which is linked to individuals who sustain repeated blows to the head or who are subject to repetitive brain trauma, showed that nearly every former NFL player's brain examined during research revealed evidence of CTE.

The findings released Tuesday were part of a study conducted by two leading medical institutions devoted to CTE research — the VA Boston Healthcare System and Boston University School of Medicine — and the results concluded that of 111 NFL players' brains that were donated to science after the players' deaths, 110 (99%) were found to have CTE. The disease currently can only be diagnosed post-mortem. -- http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/fo...icle-1.3355228
Well to be fair to him, you still have many players and coaches and others in the NFL that don't buy into it either including Goodell and the NFL brass.

Yes, and that's exactly why I disagree with this form of protest - too many people perceive the act as a "punch in the gut" to the nation. And when you're protesting, you're attempting to communicate a message, and if that message is not reaching the target, because the target is so offended that they've stopped listening to you, then you're not accomplishing anything.

One thing you have to say for President Trump - He is a great uniter! I've never seen the owners, players, and commissioner of the NFL so united as they were yesterday!
