Greatest generation... google
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Greatest_GenerationThe Greatest Generation is the title of Tom Brokaw's 1998 book profiling those who came of age during World War II in the US, stemming from his attendance at the D-Day 40th anniversary celebrations. In the book, Brokaw wrote, "it is, I believe, the greatest generation any society has ever produced". He argued that these men and women fought not for fame and recognition, but because it was the "right thing to do".
Baby boomers have been extraordinarily poor stewards of what was given to us. Maybe that's it in a nutshell, it was given, taken for granted.
I've heard that term also but according to this its something else:
5. What are the primary generations today?
Currently, five generations make up our society. Each of those five generations has an active role in the marketplace. Depending on the specific workplace, the workforce includes four to five generations. Here are the birth years for each generation:
- Gen Z, iGen, or Centennials: Born 1996 and later
- Millennials or Gen Y: Born 1977 to 1995
- Generation X: Born 1965 to 1976
- Baby Boomers: Born 1946 to 1964
- Traditionalists or Silent Generation: Born 1945 and before

The generations are too long - it should be smaller like 10 years as things change so quickly

There is still another term I'm thinking of but haven't taken the time to chase it down. I've only heard it in regard to the Soc.S. change. People from approx. 1918 - 1930 or so.
