Thread: Australian Cafe Charges 'Man Tax'

A vegan cafe in Australia is charging men more than women to fight the gender pay gap, it says.

The Handsome Her cafe in Melbourne, Australia charges men an 18 percent "man tax."

"I like that it is making men stop and question their privilege a little bit," owner Alex O'Brien said.

"There's been nothing but positivity from everyone, males and females," she added.

One man even donated $50 to show his support, she related.

Not everyone was happy about the tax though. Some on social media called the policy sexist against men.

"We now raise 'awareness' and debate it with discrimination toward men... but we must have be equals to men!" one Twitter used wrote.

The cafe also gives women priority seating. Profits from the tax will go to a women's service.

As a teenager, before I became a Christian, I was an anti-racist for a little while. In the sense that I blamed the white race for every ill and practically included myself under that blame. My mother thought I had gone crazy. The male feminist is often the same way and gets applauded for that by his female counterparts.

That lasted a few days. I sort of managed to disassociate myself from the white race by taking the white guilt upon myself and became some sort of a mascot for the Africans. I think an over zealous high school teacher was the cause of that "trip".
