Michigan named best state in America
DETROIT - Tell us something we don't know.
Michigan is the nation's best state, according to Thrillist's list of the best states.
The top five rounded out with Maine, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Louisiana.
Thrillist used things like, inventions, food/drink, famous people and physical beauty to create the list.
Here are a bunch of things you may not know about one of Michigan's most prized possessions - the Great Lakes...

I'll go with "Best State in the summer". I am looking forward to maybe wintering elsewhere when I retire. I don't like the snow and cold of our winters.

In the 90s I visited Kalamazoo a lot (once or twice a year depending on my Job's need for me to go there). Some of the best restaurants with the most delicious food I have ever had.
Then again, I noticed the most overweight people I had ever seen in my life lived there.
Saw a flying reindeer when I was there. One of the buses we were on hit a reindeer crossing the street in the snow and we saw it fly

Restaurants typically make food delicious by adding obscene amounts of fat and sugar.

That may be true but the ones in Kalamazoo, at least in the 90s, were doing SOMETHING different than other places I traveled to because their food, in my opinion, beat out every other place. I don't know if you have ever heard of "CRacker Barrel" in Norway but the first time I ever ate there was in Kalamazoo. The food was delicious and it was definitely one of the places I ate at every time I went there.
When I got to Rhode Island I ate at the Cracker Barrel here in 2000. Haven't been back there since. Just sayin'.

I didn't know that they had those in the south. Been to South Carolina many times as well as staying three weeks in Georgia and never saw one. I definitely would have tried one if I had.
