Steve Harvey meets with Trump

TV host Steve Harvey was the latest celebrity to drop in for a meeting at Trump Tower on Friday. And now he's explaining what it was all about.

"Our president (Obama) asked that all of us sit down and talk to one another in order to move our country forward," the host of Family Feud and The Steve Harvey Show noted in a statement posted to Twitter. "The transition teams on both sides asked me to meet and I'm glad I did."

Harvey said that Trump "immediately got (HUD secretary nominee) Dr. Ben Carson on the phone to begin dialog in looking for programs and housing to help our inner cities." He added that the president-elect "seems very open to my mentoring efforts across the country."

He added, "I walked away feeling like I had just talked with a man who genuinely wants to make a difference in this area. I feel that something really great could come out of this."

Harvey's bottom line? "I would sit with him anytime."

I just hope this is legit (meaning there will be action on what they discussed) and not just another photo op.

I hope that Harvey continues to stand up against the opposition to him visiting Trump and doesn't allow himself to be bullied into submission.

Steve's pretty much solid when it comes to standing his ground. But it's difficult to know if he will in this case. He has his own talk show now, and he's a game show host; who knows how he'll react if his livelihood is threatened.

The hatin' towards Steve has already started, at least among some of the "christians" I am "friends" with on FB. Now he is nothing more than an "entertainer". Gee, wonder why we never heard such remarks towards Jay-Z and Beyonce when they were endorsing President Obama.

Sometimes I am so ready to unfriend 96% of my 460 friends (probably 440 of them I hardly ever or NEVER talk to anyway) just so that I won't see some of their ignorance. Of course I could just "unfollow" them but I think a thorough cleansing might be better. I could also do what some of my friends do. They just create new FB pages and only friend the people that they really want to contact.

But then again, I did set up my page primarily for ministry and not so much for socializing so I suppose I'll have to exercise great restraint when I read foolishness from my left-leaning Christian friends.

I was told Steve Harvey was a believer...and maybe he is. But I was turned off the one time I watched Family Feud during so-called "family time" and the top answer was "condoms" which brought laughs and guffaws from everyone. I turned it off. Never watched again. He's part of the problem, not the solution.

Yeah. I saw his program the other day and he showed a clip of a couple of women vulgarly tweaking with their butts to the camera. He cusses all the time on his show. TBN has even had him as a host several times. I'm not saying he isn't a Christian, I really think he 'believes', but as you said, not totally family friendly.

You raise some good points. I am always leery of Hollywood "Christians" anyway. They seem to compromise too easily most of them. I have only caught glimpses of family feud while visiting someone who has it on and I never watch any talk shows so I don't know the level of his vulgarity but it would not surprise me. I am a firm believer that if a person is going to be a genuine Christian they will have to give up Hollywood or else the profession for Christ is meaningless.
