I kinda like her too and I'm wondering if they're hoping she will lend some credibility after all their blatant bias towards and promoting of Hillary.

As to why she left, this article gives more details:

Why Megyn Kelly is leaving Fox News for NBC

    ...
Money did not appear to be the major factor in her decision; Kelly stood to make an eight-figure salary wherever she went. As she talked about her thinking, it became clear that a top priority was a schedule that would allow her to spend more time with her three young children rather than returning home after their bedtime.

Kelly was an increasingly unhappy lawyer in 2004 when she parlayed a part-time gig at a Washington station into a reporting job at Fox. She quickly rose through the ranks, co-anchoring "America's Newsroom" with Bill Hemmer and then hosting a 1 p.m. show before the move to prime time.

NBC Universal Chairman Andrew Lack said in a statement, "Megyn is an exceptional journalist and news anchor, who has had an extraordinary career" Lack said. "She's demonstrated tremendous skill and poise, and we're lucky to have her."

The move gives Kelly access to the potentially larger audience of a major broadcast network. But launching a daytime program can be difficult, even for famous journalists.

Katie Couric, the former "Today" co-host and CBS anchor, lasted two years in an ABC-backed daytime show whose first executive producer was Jeff Zucker, now CNN's president. CNN anchor Anderson Cooper also lasted two seasons in daytime. The largely female audience tends to favor entertainment and lighter fare over serious news topics. NBC did not announce a time for Kelly's new show...

I personally think the money was the biggest factor in her decision ....

... and NBC is willing to pay it to try and slow down the popularity of Fox News

From what I've read Kelly's ratings have been dropping. She is not seen as a "conservative" by many, and there are some at Fox who have had problems with her and upper management favored Kelly. I think it's time for her to move, she'll probably be happy at NBC. She isn't a full blown liberal but she isn't totally conservative. She had the number two ratings at Fox News, but her show follows O'Reilly, I think that helped. It will be interesting to see what happens. Now, who will fill that time slot?

I had always hoped for an alternative news broadcast at 6:00 or so that would go up against ABC, NBC, and CBS. My dream co-anchors were Chris Wallace and Megyn Kelly. It would be Fox, of course. I think they would clobber the others in the ratings game.

I've been hearing that FOX actually did beat NBC's offer but that she really did go with NBC because of the hours offered so she could spend more time with her kids:

...Mediaite has learned that Fox News offered Megyn Kelly even more than has generally been reported, a whopping $100 million package to stay put at the network and continue hosting her highly-rated prime time cable news show. A source close to Kelly says the offer, which included $25 million per year for four years, came directly from Lachlan Murdoch, Executive Co-Chairman of News Corp and 21st Century Fox...

Assuming she is neglecting her family, I'd agree! But she took the job to spend more time with her kids, (see them off in the morning, have dinner with them in the evening) Sounds like that isn't an issue.
