First Ellen then BMI. It just shows how the Gospel and Christian music industries have become so worldly and influenced by secular society. I've heard that some of the big name "Christian performers" aren't even believers. I'm glad that Burrell is standing for Christ and the Gospel.

Yep.
I traveled with an old-timer back in '83 or so to Houston to preach. He had been a Pentecostal a long time, I think since the '50s or early '60s and knew a lot of the gospel quartets, singers, etc. I don't remember the details but he told me some stories just like what you said. Made me wonder if any of them were really saved.

This hits home to a small degree. Kim's keyboardist for her church also plays for me. He travels with her too. He's from the Bay Area but lives in houston for now. Anyways, I've tried to contact him but nothing. It's like they are on total lock down.
Kim is a jazz singer and could really make it huge in that arena. Imo, if she was in it for money, she could have sold out a long time ago. She's traveled a lot with Harry connick Jr. I've known Harry's guitarist for a long time. In fact, he played on my Christmas CD.he is a real Christian and pastor's a church in the NY/CT area.
Kim is (or was ) the Vice President for the INT'L Music Dept for COGIC.She was HEAVILY criticized for singing with some secular singers and had to write a letter explaining her reasons. It was huge deal. I understood her point. She was trying to reach the music industry. Everyone is not strong enough to be in that environment, but I believe Kim is.
It's going to be very interesting what Bishop Blake says or does. He literally put Earl Carter out after he preached against the homosexuals in the church. IMO, a lot of movie stars and athletes have donated MILLIONS to his church and he's not going to mess that up. The Hollywood set are almost all liberal as you know.
Kim does not mince words. I've heard her in person go off lol. She comes from a very strict Pentecostal background where they speak it straight. Most Christians today would have a complete nervous breakdown if they heard this type of preaching. I grew up in a similar environment so it doesn't phase me.
I think the confusion comes because she has sung with secular artist and been around the gay community. But I believe what she is saying is that she is out there being a light to the world, while her words were to the church, not the world and not to every church, but her local church. Why does she not have that right ?? I believe she does.
Some people are starting to rally around her. The battle lines are being drawn now.

Iona Locke. She preached in my home church back in the 90s. She came up in the Pentecostal assemblies of the World and pastors a church in Detroit now. She came from a very strict background (no pants, makeup, movie theaters, etc) so i'm not surprised by this type of message

Keeping in mind that up thread, I applauded Kim and I'm Not trying to be contrary or judgmental, but...
I've heard soooo many Christian musicians say they "partner" with secular artists because they're trying to "minister" in that industry - However, unfortunately many of them have back-sliden and some have even renounced their beliefs as a result - Their efforts to "evangelize the entertainment industry" seemed to have backfired on them.
I'd love to see some examples of Christian artists who have been successful in leading secular performers to the Lord, AND that the "fruit has remained" and gone on to become true disciples.

I hear ya, but Kim has been working with the secular industry for years. She was singing with Connick jr way back when one of the other popes was living. They sung at his big appearance at Yankee stadium years ago.
Personally, I think that several artist AND Pastors (jakes, Blake, Jones to name a few) have been tainted by the spirit of the world and Hollywood and it may have influenced them more than vice versa. I'm sure some here might disagree with that but it's ok. However, so far, I think Kim (obviously) has proven otherwise
