Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Rockettes to perform at Trump's inauguration

-The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and The Radio City Rockettes will perform at Donald Trump's inauguration, it has been announced.

The US president-elect's transition team confirmed the acts would perform at the ceremony on 20 January.

Several high-profile musicians including Elton John and Celine Dion have refused to perform at the event.

But Mr Trump has claimed many celebrities have been requesting tickets for it.

On Friday, he tweeted: "The so-called 'A' list celebrities are all wanting tixs to the inauguration, but look what they did for Hillary, NOTHING. I want the PEOPLE!"

That is seemingly a reference to the fact his democratic rival Hillary Clinton lost last month's presidential election despite having the support of many celebrities, including Katy Perry and Beyoncé.

One performer who has already been booked for Mr Trump's inauguration is 16-year-old former America's Got Talent singer Jackie Evancho...

I believe that people are no longer enamored with people's celebrity status. That seems to be a thing of the past, especially since many celebrity have been acting like the backside of mules.

The Rockettes? Man, that's gonna be the source of a lot of ridicule and jokes. Shouldn't it be a little more dignified than that?

Actually they've performed at other Republican inaugurations in the past including Reagan's and Bush's too.

Check this out tho, now the liberals are trying to start a boycott:

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — The Radio City Rockettes will be dancing at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next month but not everyone is kicking up their heels at the booking.

One of the famed dancers took to Instagram to say she was “embarrassed and disappointed” by the gig, triggering calls for a boycott by some on social media. Critics have posted the phone numbers of the dancers’ union and the Rockette’s employer to urge complaints...

Hmmm, whatever happened to being an entertainment professional? Performing for the president is an honor. So your guy didn't win, fine. Better luck the next election. I remember many years ago my wife was asked to perform a ballroom dance for a Christmas party at the White House. It never occurred to her to think about whether she supported/voted for that president -- it has NOTHING to do with that -- it's a GIG. Good grief.

Isn't it interesting that a Christian baker gets hammered for not wanting to decorate a cake with something he has moral issues with but entertainers can freely refuse to provide their services to folk that have differing views from theirs.

At one level, this comes down to questions of how we evaluate "association." What meaning do we attach to being in a situation? Is our distancing from an event or task due to a truly moral (hopefully Bible-based) principles, or due to dislike/hatred of another person or group?

I remember being uncomfortable turning down a camera gig for an event that I just felt that I did not to even remotely associate with that spirit (godly conviction, nothing to do with dislike/hate). Others may have felt free to do the gig as a "professional."

Others will observe proximity to the "controversial" person, and we have to decide if we are ready to handle it

If I had an opportunity to perform for a president that I was opposed to his party/policies/platform, I would still do it, as this about love of my country and respect for the democratic process. He IS "my president" whether I voted for him or not (as I pray for him to perhaps adjust his ways and make godly decisions ;).

I agree, BUT one HAS to wonder (rhetorical, I know the answer) whether or not those opposed to Hillary, (had she won) would have been as gracious...
