You are a cool guy Bookman but you are NOT as conservative as they come if your writings here are anything to go by ..

Per your concern about feeding/helping the homeless truth is biblical guidelines only required the corners of our fields

    New Living Translation
"When you harvest the crops of your land, do not harvest the grain along the edges of your fields, and do not pick up what the harvesters drop. Leave it for the poor and the foreigners living among you. I am the LORD your God."
Obviously everybody hast to determine what the corner of his field means but I am pretty sure that by whatever metric Liberty can build a gun range and at the same time leave the corners of their fields for the poor and the homeless nonetheless . No ?

That the university would have a gun range on campus doesn't bother me a bit, .... it is legal, moral, and ethical!!! Christ did tell his followers that if they had no sword they were to sell their coat and buy one.

Progressives like to present themselves as religious, but they so often fail to take a balanced look at the Scriptures. All this talk about loving your enemies and feeding the homeless. Listen, when the bad guy is shooting innocent people down dead at a campus event, it is only a good guy with a gun that will stop him.

Oh, and didn't the 2 letter to the Thessalonians say something about not feeding those who were unwilling to work???

BTW, the trustees of Liberty University are the ones responsible for financial matters at the school. Perhaps the money utilized for this gun range project was designated gift for that purpose.

Regardless of how the money for the project came, it is foolish to judge others based on incomplete or false information.
I stopped reading after the first couple of paragraphs and decided I may send them a donation in the near future. I HATE it when folks that have no business poking their nose into others business, criticize them publicly for some perceived wrong without having all of the facts. When liberal/progressives complain and criticize Christian ministers, ministries, or schools, my first thought is they must be doing something right!
When your praise match your prayers, the answer will come.

Some here are saying they would shoot intruders who break into their home.

    Please, don't shoot Santa!

Police: Pastor shoots intruder at Baytown church
    http://abc13.com/news/police-pastor-...church/888280/

    BAYTOWN, TX (KTRK) --
A would-be burglar messed with the wrong church and pastor Tuesday. Baytown police say the man kicked in the door of the Church of New Beginnings early and attempted to rob it.

"We have church break-ins here in the city of Baytown," said Pat Holmes. "But ours had never been broken into. Unfortunately today was the day."

Around 6:15, police say a man broke into the Church of New Beginnings on North Alexander. Surveillance video shows the man breaking through the door. Little did he know that Pastor Benny Holmes was sleeping inside, and that he was strapped.

If the pastor was scriptual he should of used an arrow
Psalm 64:7 - But God will shoot them with his arrows; they will suddenly be struck down.

    I like this part...

...What could be considered the most surprising part of what happened this time around may be what happened while Blue was lying on the ground in his own blood.

"I led him through the sinner's prayer while he was on the floor,"
Pastor Holmes says. "He repeated the sinner's prayer after me. And that was about it. I'm going to go visit him."

Blue has an extensive criminal history dating back to 2005. It includes trespassing, burglary of a vehicle, and assault, just to name a few....
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
    (Ephesians 4:17-18)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...
    (Psalm 1)

This is, to me, symptomatic of a weak, carnal, and powerless church.

Back in the day, people like Charles Spurgeon said, "If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for." Nowadays we're ready to dispatch them to hell with a bullet to their gut.

Back in the day, William Booth shed tears over those would do him physical harm. Today he's turning in his grave.

I guess the Bibles at Liberty quote 2 Corinthians 10:4 as: "For the weapons of our warfare are carnal, able to pull down strong holds with the squeeze of a trigger."
I think you might be missing the point in regards to guns.

    > I don't see how teaching students how to kill people fits into teaching theology.

It's not about killing people. It's about keeping people alive.

You may not realize it, but from the military to the local cop shop it is folks with guns that maintain your liberty. It isn't about killing people, it's about keeping people safe from those who would do you and yours harm.

I guess David Wilkerson was a fool to trust God as he walked through those drug and crime-infested neighborhoods as he began Teen Challenge. And Jonathan Goforth in China who was nearly killed in the Boer war. If only he had packed heat instead of trusting God. Such fools for Christ.
