I hate it that the church is perceived as hating gays. It's partly the media, but we are to blame too.
Per the underlined, I disagree. It wasn't until they became vocal and began their attacks against the body of Christ and trying to shove their lifestyle down our throats through the legal system, that Christians began to fight back.

Sure, there were some in the Church that exhibited disdain towards homosexuals, but I believe it was a small number. They were the ones that screamed "hate and intolerance" when the Church refused to comply with their demand that we consider their lifestyle normal, and demand that we stop preaching what the word says about homosexuality being a sin.

The Church has done much to show them love and respect, but it is NOT what they want. They want full acceptance of their lifestyle, which will NEVER happen. The fact that they're going after this precious couple only because of the Church they attend, not by anything they themselves have said or did, is all the proof that they are a hateful bunch whose agenda is to force us to accept them as normal and condone their perverse lifestyle.

'This targeting of Christians...needs to stop': GOP congressmen support Chip and Joanne Gaines

December 5, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) – Two Republican congressmen have expressed their support of HGTV stars Chip and Joanna Gaines after a Buzzfeed hit piece on their church questioned whether the couple believes in man-woman marriage.

Rep. Bill Flores, R-TX, and Rep. Warren Davidson, R-OH, tweeted their support of the couple.

Flores said "intolerant" people are attacking the Christian faith. Davidson called it the targeting of Christians for their beliefs...

That's true of activists, but most gays are not activists. They mostly live quiet lives. They go to work, they buy groceries, they attend sporting events, and so on. They're otherwise normal people. But the notion they have about Christians is that Christians disdain them personally without even knowing them. Those are the ones I believe are reachable. Just last night a friend was telling me about a lesbian couple he knows. One of the women is very masculine and clearly proud of being gay. But her partner can't look my friend in the eyes, due to her feelings of shame. Now, SHE'S the type of person I want to reach out to. And there are many, many like her. They feel bound to their lifestyle and the message they're hearing from the church isn't that they can find hope and help from Christians. The message they hear is that they are not welcome to come to Christ as they are and embark on a journey of change.

I just have not seen or heard of a Church or Christian ministry that project the message of not being welcome to come to Christ. Maybe I've been in the RHEMA bubble too long. It's difficult for me to believe. I think their "notions" are wrong.

I believe they hear what they want to hear. Also, the enemy is constantly in their ear, so that's why they "hear" they're not welcome.

I encountered a homosexual worker while shopping at Dilliards recently. He was borderline hostile to me when I returned a product (he had sold it to me the day before). He and I had been friendly before, he even agreed the product was flawed. But when he realized I was a Christian, his whole countenance changed for the worse.

Same kind of attitude happened with a lesbian supervisor I once had. Hate for no reason other than being a Christian. No matter how much love or kindness you display the homosexual lobby as a group, rejects it.

I think they both had preconceived ideas that Christians reject them, so they reject Christians. Some gays think Fred Phelps spoke for Christians. I talked to some young people a couple of years ago who were raised in churches, but were same-sex attracted. They told me of youth group leaders making jokes about gays...and even pastors from the pulpit doing the same. They were made to feel unwelcome in their own churches. I bet of those dozen kids, maybe one or two will have gone on to follow the Lord. Meanwhile ministries to gays (the ones I know) have very little financial support from the churches. I better get off my soapbox. I know I'm just repeating what I've said before.

Maybe I don't get out enough. lol

There are quite a few lesbians that attend the services we hold at the women's prison. They still come even if part of the sermon touches on same sex attraction. I guess it's all in the presentation and how they're received.

I agree that presentation is probably a huge part of it. When I speak about sexual immorality I lump it all together. After all, that is how God sees it. Adulterers, fornicators, homosexuals, sodomites-they are all sexually immoral. None are worse than the others.

None are supposed to be allowed in fellowship if they consider themselves a brother or sister in Christ. And yet, we must preach hope and deliverance to every one of them.

As far as how some of them have treated you when they found out you were a Christian, you must remember that it is a spirit that they carry which hates the Spirit which you carry. It is not flesh and blood.

    Bingo!
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
    (Ephesians 4:17-18)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...
    (Psalm 1)

Yes, I agree that ALL sexual sins are equal. The way I understand scripture though is there are some sins that are worse than others.

The scriptures say "other sins that people commit don't affect their bodies the same way sexual sins do. And that people who sin sexually sin against their own bodies." 1 Cor. 6:18 (GWT)

This appears to say that sexual sin is worse in its destructiveness than other sins. So that makes it worse. Murder is a worse sin than stealing or driving 5 miles over the speed limit. So murder and sexual sin are worse than other sins.
