No, I'm quite well. I have no problem with people who choose to wear modest clothing for religious reasons, but apparently that causes people a lot of issues. As if a woman's clothing choices will lead to the application of "Sharia Law" for all.

I know that this will fall upon deaf ears, and I will probably be wasting ten minutes of time that I will never get back, but I suppose that I am sometimes a glutton for punishment.

First, if a person wants to give "religious" expression, a beauty pageant is NOT the place to do it. I don't even agree with Christians getting into those things since there is no place for modesty when you must where a bathing suit.

But a beauty pageant (and I have not watched one probably since I was a kid) is supposed to be, to my recollection, a place to judge someone's beauty, which includes their face and body. If you do not want your face and body judged then do not enter a pageant. If what happens in pageants is against your religious views then do NOT enter into one. I really believe that it is that simple.

The real bigotry is with those who continue to try to force acceptance of their lifestyle and dress codes. Do you understand? (I didn't think so but alas, perhaps the Lord will at least give me some credit in the Heavenly reward system for trying to talk some sense into you).

The woman is not forcing anyone to accept her lifestyle or dress code. You are free to dress as you please, to worship as you please, to live as you please. Why is it so hard to tolerate others who choose to live a different way? (Re. the pageant, beauty is not necessarily a function of percentage of exposed skin, and my understanding is that other talents are also taken into consideration; it is not just about the physical.)

My question to her would be, "why participate in a competition that is meant to aggrandize the sexuality of women?" I know many beautiful Christian women who wouldn't participate in a pageant because it is antithetical to their beliefs, and they know they would have to wear clothing that is deemed as immodest.

some pageants are about talent and smarts...i.e. Junior Miss. The Miss America pageant is somewhat the same, but the Miss USA/Universe pageant is all about beauty.

It could be that the girl wanted to participate but couldn't do it without wearing the proper clothing. It could also be that there is a thought behind it, that it is part of a general drive to introduce Islamic practices into society in unusual areas and thereby find room for the idea that Islamic practices should take precedence over general rules and laws. Meaning it is part of an Islamic dominance plan. It could be activism, it could be just a girl who wanted to participate the way her religion or her parents/peers allowed.

Wearing a hijab in a Miss America contest has ZERO to do with being tolerant and accepting people

If you don't get that then you need to live in a Muslim nation who shows you no tolerance to bring some common sense back into your thinking

No, it has everything to do with accepting people. (The pageant is, of course, free to implement a dress code of their choice.)
