    ObamaCare premiums spike in 2017

-Republicans blasted the White House on Monday after President Obama's administration announced premiums for his signature health care law will rise sharply next year and many consumers would be down to just one insurer.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, while campaigning in Tampa, Fla., emphatically declared ObamaCare "over."

Trump added that his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, "wants to double down and make it more expensive and it's not gonna work. ... Our country can't afford it, you can't afford it." He promised his own plan would deliver "great health care at a fraction of the cost."

Trump's running mate Indiana Gov. Mike Pence echoed his partner's words, saying on Twitter "Higher premiums, less competition & fewer choices lie ahead for ObamaCare. Hillary Clinton wants more of the same."

Before taxpayer-provided subsidies, premiums for a midlevel benchmark plan will increase an average of 25 percent across the 39 states served by the federally run online market, according to a report from the Department of Health and Human Services. Some states will see much bigger jumps...

Even the reporter for MSNBC was being honest about it and it's ramifications.

Unfortunately, Mr. Trump's plan to terminate the ACA will bring harm to the 20 million Americans who obtained health insurance through the ACA program and didn't have it before. Instead of having expensive coverage, they'll have no coverage.

Mrs. Clinton's plan will improve the ACA, making it more affordable.

I know you folks hate Mrs. Clinton, but on this topic, her position is undoubtedly superior to that of Mr. Trump.

Well mrs. Clinton is a Methodist so therefore we are all against every one of her methods.

And mr. Trump may not carry a full deck of cards but there are more trumps in that deck than in any other deck.

That's actually a bogus number, they factored in folk who already had health insurance on their own but enrolled in ObamaCare because the subsidies at the time lowered their premiums, they were not uninsured... and included others who were referred to welfare programs. The real number is much lower, its just been another colossal waste of time and money by the Obama administration but then they are notorious for their lies and fudging of numbers.

...Now, a new analysis from the highly regarded managed care analyst at Goldman Sachs, Matthew Borsch, and his team, cast uncertainty on some of the recent data releases from the White House, and its network of academicians. In particular, the Goldman breakdown conflicts in some key ways with a recent analysis from RAND that was published in the journal Health Affairs and widely cited by the media.

There are two critical questions embedded in all of these analyses. First, how many of the newly insured people would have gotten health coverage anyway, through some other mechanism (like their workplace)? In other words, is the law simply crowding out other forms of private coverage? Second, how many of the newly insured simply ended up on an expanded (and decaying) Medicaid program? The answers to these questions are an important measure of the ACA's "success"?

On the latter question, according to the Goldman analysis, about two-thirds of the 2014 coverage increase was from the expansion in Medicaid. For 2014, their figures for net new coverage includes 9 million more people obligated to Medicaid, and about 2 million aging into Medicare. Only about 3 million got commercial coverage...

A major portion of ACA is the expansion of Medicaid, which unfortunately has been rejected by many Republican-led states. Another major portion is the market place exchanges. And the last major portion is the mandated eligibility of children in their early 20's under their parents' employer-subsidized plans. Mr. Trump has stated he wishes to terminate ACA, which means terminating all portions of it.

If Mr. Trump is elected, and terminates the ACA as he has promised, millions of Americans will lose their health insurance, and cease to be able to obtain health care. The exact numbers I agree are uncertain.

For people who are pro-life, Mr. Trump's anti-life position on terminating the ACA certainly should be considered in the "lesser of evils" calculation.
