In other words not quite totally sincere in his stand.

I do know he had wanted to be traded in the offseason but they didn't do it.

I also think that he knows he is not going to be starting quarterback this year. This way, he can make it about race rather than athleticism.

Seems he converted to more than just social activism:

-Apparently, Colin Kaepernick who was raised by his adopted white parents from Wisconsin had converted to Islam late last year after getting engaged to his Islamic Black Lives Matter girlfriend.

ConservativeDailyPost.com reported: July 2015, Kaepernick converted to Islam during the offseason AND he is engaged to Nessa Diab, a Black Lives Matter activist who promotes what she calls "authentic Islam..."
