Pastor who believes floods are God's punishment, flees flooded home

I don't know why we haven't discussed the flooding in Louisiana, maybe because we don't have any active posters down there (Alone-4-God is the only person I know of, but she hasn't been too active) but this is TOO ironic...makes you wanna go hmm...

US pastor Tony Perkins, who believes natural disasters are sent by God to punish gay people, has fled his flooded home in Louisiana.

Mr Perkins has revealed that he was forced to escape his property in a canoe with his family.

He shared photos on Facebook and discussed his experience in a podcast.

"This is a flood of near-biblical proportions," he said in an interview with the Family Research Council.

"We had to escape from our home Saturday by canoe. We had about 10 feet of water at the end of our driveway. Our house flooded, a few of our cars flooded."

In 2015, he interviewed extreme Messianic Jewish pastor Jonathan Cahn who told him that Hurricane Joaquin, which devastated Hawaii last year, was a "sign of God's wrath".

During the interview, Mr Cahn stated that the storm was a sign God was angry about the legalisation of gay marriage and abortion and the relationship between the United Nations and Israel.

He's quoted as agreeing, adding "God is trying to send us a message".

Here's a post from Dan Rather on FB..

If residents of Louisiana are watching television news, they must be feeling woefully forgotten. We have the worst natural disaster in years. People have lost their lives and families have lost lifetimes of memories under the waters. However, on cable news at least, the bizarre, apparently fabricated story of the discredited armed robbery of Olympic swimmers is getting almost wall-to-wall coverage. It is ridiculous.

I don't mean to downplay the interest of a story like the one out of Rio. It is so strange that it is compelling. What were they thinking? I wonder that as well. But the news business should have higher standards. Technically the supposed robbery is news, but not when compared to what is happening in Louisiana. It doesn't take much imagination as a reporter to find gripping human interest stories there too, not to mention the headline-worthy state of emergency and the underlying take away about the specter of climate change on extreme weather.

Of course that kind of reporting requires resources and may not draw the easy ratings of pundits playing the schadenfreude game in air conditioned studios. But that doesn't mean it isn't important. It doesn't mean it isn't news. And it doesn't mean that news organizations can give it the second-billing it is getting. I must say that I had reason to be around many local newsrooms in Texas this week and they were dedicating resources to the disaster befalling the state to their east.

A final rhetorical question- if these floods were happening in New York City, or Washington DC or even San Francisco, do you think the coverage would be different?

I know someone who's been listening to him for years and a friend of Perkins have said he's never said such a thing about homosexuals. But I don't know because I've never heard him I don't think.

Well, we know God cannot bless those that practice and idolize obamanation.

Look at what happened to ancient Israel... they turned away from the Lord and even though the Lord had sworn to protect them, He backed away and allowed their enemies to come in and destroy them.

God never changes... Jesus specifically said He only does what He sees the Father do, so like it or not, believe it or not... the same is starting to happen to this nation.

And of course baby killin and perverted sexual practices are a couple of the obamanations that cause God to not be able to continue blessing this nation.

He really has no choice but to back away because the majority of people in this nation now desire to have nothing to do with Him and have embraced evil as being good.

Sadly, many Christians have no idea what's going on... but they will get the picture and actually when really bad things happen it's a wake up call for some folks which helps some make decisions for the Lord, while other curse the Lord that they claim doesn't exist.
