Tell me when you get one year in prison for failing to report that your neighbor is having someone over for a religious meeting of whatever kind.

Yep. That is the kind of info I hadn't heard and surprised at. I don't think anybody is surprised over the 'privacy' stuff.

Let me know when that actually happens. Until then, I remain highly circumspect about anti-Putin/Russian propaganda.
Putin is a slacker when it comes to the surveillance state, the US on the other hand, well..

It's bad enough that it could possibly happen. Christian missionaries might have the courage to ignore the threat but that law is designed to exploit the fear of the common man. A non-christian who observes that his neighbor is having a house church meeting is unlikely to fail to report it while thinking "they wont bother to enforce the law anyway". And what about those who hate their neighbor's house church ? Once they report them, what will happen next ? Do you think the authorities are likely to ignore a report that they demanded themselves ?
It's time to wake up to reality, Russia just became a totalitarian regime. One with a democratic element but that is also a feature of many other totalitarian regimes.
Mandatory reporting of dissidents is as totalitarian as it gets.

I thought you were the one here who was quick to see the forming of totalitarian regimes. I suppose this only applies when it involves the US. I find that rather disappointing.

Indeed it IS disappointing when the USA surveillance state is far more advanced and invasive than the russkies.

Putin has negotiated with Syria and Iran to calm tensions in Middle East > neo cons and puppet press must demonize Putin.
