Snipers open fire on dallas police, killing at least 4 cops and wounding as many as 7

At least four police officers killed by snipers during Dallas protest, chief says

DEVELOPING: At least four Dallas police officers were killed Thursday after being targeted by two snipers in a downtown parking garage Thursday night during a protest over police shootings of African-Americans.

Dallas Police Chief David Brown said "it appears" the snipers shot 10 officers during the protest. Brown said that three injured officers were in critical condition and two others were in surgery.

Dallas' public transit agency, DART, confirmed on Twitter that one of its police officers was shot and killed, while three of its officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Fox News affiliate KDFW-Fox4 reported that one suspect was "down" and SWAT officers were negotiating with at least one other suspect, a man reportedly wearing what appeared to be a bullet-proof vest and tactical gear.

However, Brown said that no suspects were in custody.

Fox4 cameras captured protesters running away from the scene of the shooting shortly before 9 p.m. local time. A cameraman approached the scene and captured officers apparently lying on the ground.

A Fox4 reporter said he heard approximately 10 gunshots downtown. That reporter was told by an officer police were searching for someone with a rifle.

The status of the shooter was not immediately clear. Aerial images showed officers appearing to focus their search on a parking garage.

Witness Carlos Harris told the Dallas Morning News the gunfire was "strategic. It was tap-tap-pause. Tap-tap-pause."

Michael Batista told KDFW the protest march had been "very peaceful" before the shooting started.

Brittany Peete, a demonstrator, told the Associated Press she didn't hear the gunshots, but she "saw people rushing back toward me saying there was an active shooter."

Peete said she saw a woman trip and nearly get trampled as people ran to get to safety.

"Everyone just started running," Devante Odom, 21, told The Dallas Morning News. "We lost touch with two of our friends just trying to get out of there."

Well, if most of these folks that have been shot would obey officer's instructions when they interact with the cops, they would be alive today.

Sure there are always occasional unjustified shootings by cops, but when you have known criminals who refuse to cooperate when they are instructed to keep their hands up rather than going for their guns or whatever weapons they have on their person... cops have the legal right to defend themselves which is what the majority of these shootings have been.

    2 Timothy 3:1-5
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
    Traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Those that are not hungry for the Lord, have been turned over to a reprobate mind (Romans 1) and we need to start focusing on those of all races that are seeking escape from the darkness of this world and let them know that a personal relationship with Jesus is the answer.

Meanwhile, the older folks need to warn the younger folks... regardless of race.... that when you interact with law enforcement, do what they tell you to do, otherwise you risk making them feel you are a threat to them or others and they will be on the ready to take you out if you act aggressive towards them.

Cops are out there to protect, and that includes themselves. Now, after what just happened in Dallas... all cops are going to have a hair trigger so beware of ticking off the cops regardless of your skin color!

Farm Truck, I now have you on ignore. I simply cannot stomach your posts anymore. At least not tonight. This is a time for intercession.

Excellent! Wouldn't want to upset anyone with what is actually going on... yes, prayer is good and so is speaking the truth to people such as REPENT, THE APPEARING OF THE LORD IS VERY NEAR

I don't blame you. It's easy to blame the victim rather than offer workable solutions, or empathy. The latest two shootings appear to be completely unjustifiable. Yet, I keep seeing ignorant, flippant responses like FT's. It's sickening to say the least.
When your praise match your prayers, the answer will come.

The lack of righteousness in any group of people does not make it acceptable for anyone who calls themselves Christian to behave in a way that is not righteous. Evil or wrong headed cops? Be righteous. Evil or wrong headed protesters? Be righteous. Thieves? Murderers? Rapists? Homosexuals? Be righteous!

I am afraid of where this country is headed. What I see is fear. What I see is cops afraid of black men and black men afraid of cops. Both justified I think. I think it's only going to get worse. Fear and anger are a toxic combination.

Farm Truck, I'm not sure if you misread the headline and the article, but this is about police officers that have been shot.

Reports are now saying 5 dead and 6 injured.

What a horrific thing to do, to organise.

Terrible the things that have sparked this too. Far too much hate and fear in this world.
