Resident Chocolate Monster
village in Alaska
For whatever reason, climate change has become a hot topic in regards to its validity. I thought I would share an article about a village that is about to be no more.

It looks like they will meet the same fate that New York City had this last June. You do know it is under water right? Just as was predicted 10 years ago.
They actually could loose the reef, but it is due to erosion not rising sea levels. It happens across the globe and has for thousands of years.

Just wondering, are there other theories other than the typical 'climate change' theories?
I have always lived in the south and frankly in my short 60 years I have not witnessed any change..we have a mild winter or so and then a sever one..we have a dry winter or so and then a really wet one...seems to run in cycles..not some progressive move warmer.

I agree Quest. There have always been cycles in the weather. Oklahoma has always been pretty much what you have experienced.
Also to be considered in the distant past, the earth has been through more than one ice age if I recall correctly.

meh... Maryland has lost several islands over the years, Like Holland Island.
Now the house has even fallen into the bay, but in it's heyday had almost 400 residents. Most islands, we don't even know about because they were gone before we even came on the scene. New islands are born every day.

Some islands might also capsize into the sea if too many soldiers are placed on them.

Hmmm, I have some friends headed to an island in Alaska right now for a job. Should I be worried about them?
