Costco recalled almost 80,000 pounds of butter

Here is why Costco recalled almost 80,000 pounds of butter.

Costco recalled nearly 80,000 pounds of store-brand butter last month because the product's label was missing a key ingredient: milk.

The wholesaler recalled 79,200 pounds of two varieties of butter — 46,800 pounds of its Kirkland Signature Unsalted Sweet Cream Butter, and 32,400 pounds of Kirkland Signature Salted Sweet Cream Butter because it omitted the allergen.

The Food and Drug Administration Butter said both products list cream, "but may be missing the Contains Milk statement."

The FDA classified the action as a "Class II" recall, which describes situations in which exposure to the product "may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences."

The products were made by Continental Dairy Facilities Southwest. The affected butter products include:

    Lot 2424091 - Best By Feb 22, 2025
    Lot 2424111 - Best By Feb 23, 2025
    Lot 2426891 - Best By Mar 22, 2025
    Lot 2426991 - Best by Mar 23, 2025
    Lot 2424191 - Best By Feb 23, 2025
    Lot 2427591 - Best By Mar 29, 2025
The FDA did not immediately reply to a request from CBS MoneyWatch for product-specific information on what people who have the recalled butter in their possession should do.

General guidelines from the FDA advise consumers who have purchased any recalled food to dispose of the product or return it to the retailer for a full refund.

Yeah a lot of ridicule over this recall due to something not being on the label. There is nothing wrong with the butter.

The FDA is as corrupt as the Biden administration. I would label them in the same category as food processing plants that mysteriously caught on fire and burned to the ground. What do I mean? Make up some lame excuse to destroy perfectly good butter to create a shortage. We've all heard it before. Destroy thousands of chickens or cows because of some ridiculous suspicious cause to create a shortage. Henry Kissinger said, "if you control the food, you control the people." I don't trust any of the alphabet government agencies. They practice deception and create lies to advance their hidden agenda which usually doesn't end will for American citizens.

I checked my butter and it was fine. The ingredients listed salt and cream. Who does not know cream is milk with extra fat? Seriously!

I think they are just lazy. If you are allergic to milk, then you should know butter is dairy. You shouldn't need papa Joe to label it for you. My friend has a child with peanut allergies, she doesn't trust labels, she asks questions and does research. When it's life and death, you need to be certain.
