I can't. I learned these things in Sunday School. I learned these things by reading the Bible. Now, I understand people like to sweep things that they don't like from the Bible under the carpet, maybe this guy was like that. He finally got to the point where the carpet wouldn't lie flat anymore.

Yes, and for that reason (especially regarding LGBT issues), Christians need to know exactly how to respond when questioned during an interview or even a casual conversation. The automatic response is "Well, I'm against it. Homosexuality is a sin and all homosexuals are on their way to hell." The truth is that an evangelical Christian is the best friend a gay person can have. The problem is the gay person doesn't know this, nor do most evangelical Christians. With the suicide rate so high among gays--along with the diseases, depression, and unstable relationships--it will take a good loving compassionate Christian to help the gay person out of that destructive lifestyle. Right now, sadly, gays think of Christians as their enemy. And often vice versa. Lost sinners are not our enemy, they're our mission field. But how can we evangelize people who think we hate them?

I agree that they need to know they are loved by God and a human conduit of that love is God's ideal method of demonstrating that. Our response should be well thought out...

    What do you suggest?

There is much that can be done. Virtually every church in America with more than 50 people will have at least one person dealing with same-sex attractions. Concerned churches in any given community should band together and offer a community-wide support group for those who want to come out the gay lifestyle. Churches should financially support ministries to gays. Christians are quick to complain, but slow to give money to the very ministries that would help men and women leave the gay life. Another thing is to simply get involved, whether this issue affects you personally or not. Read up on the topic. Start with Joe Dallas's The Complete Christian Guide to Understanding Homosexuality. Pray for the gay folks you know. Invite them for dinner. Befriend them. Be available. For a terrific book by a woman who headed up a Queer Studies program at a university before she became a Christian, read how she was befriended into the kingdom. Yes and sadly with more and more Christians... they simply decide that being gay is A-OK and they do not tell the gay peoples that they cannot continue in their sin because if they do, they will in fact burn in hell because God has already said in numerous scriptures that those who practice this and other sins of the flesh shall NOT inherit the Kingdom of God.

I agree we need to reach out to them, but not at the expense of truth cause if we do that then we are just being drawn in to their sin and are becoming enablers and becoming in agreement with their sin which according to Romans 1:32 makes us worthy of death right along with those that refuse to turn away from their sin.

You cannot continue in you sin and expect to spend eternity anywhere other than in hell and this applies to all the sins of the flesh not just the gay peoples.
