Vote on abolishing IRS part of deal between Speaker McCarthy and House Freedom Caucus

So what do you make of this?
Very much an empty promise. It might pass in Congress, it definitely would not pass the senate, and even if it did, Biden would veto it and there is not enough of a majority to override him. The Republicans are pretending here.

Not exactly. There would still be income tax in the states and the states would return to having more power than the federal government. Right now, the money goes to the federal government and what isn't eaten up by bloated bureaucracy, is returned to the states to pay for education and other approved government programs.

This is true and was exactly Trump's point in the debate where Hillary accused him of not paying enough fed taxes. He said he was "smart" using the loopholes the Congress refused to close. So every time these clowns talk about "rich paying their fair share" they are being disingenuous. They have the power to close those loopholes, but they won't do it.

I wouldn't say pretending. I would say symbolic with an intention of getting a message across.

It's like the Navy ploy to fire a shot across the bow.

I do like the idea of at least floating the idea, it all has to start somewhere.

    Thats Libs for you ..

They are one track minded when it comes to the economy .. In their minds the ONLY thing that matters is how much the rich pay in taxes ... never mind tHe fact that taxing the rich only means less capital expenditure, less business formation, less consumer spending, less Philantrophy and a host of other Lesses which are far more impactful and efficient to the economy than financing useless bloated paper pusher bureaucracies which is what taxation primarily does ..

Liberals like the road to serfdom don't they ?

Libs who love big government should listen to Prophet Samuel
And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king.
And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.
And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.
And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.
And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.
And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.
And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.
He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.

The rich don't pay taxes. I know a tax attorney, he told me the short story.. "anything over 10% creates tax avoidance". The cost of avoidance, setting up loopholes, etc. is far less than paying over 10%. Many pay much less, triggered of course by the 10% ceiling.

It's interesting BAP that Samuel refers to 10% of your stuff as onerous.

This bill is the GOP's version of "defund the police". Their donors cheat on their taxes and want to continue to do so. The IRS (and SEC, FTC, etc.) are the "financial police", and the GOP (in service to their donors) will do everything in their power to defund these entities.
