    100 Years Ago, for the first week of January 1923, from the issues of the Greeley Tribune-Republican newspaper:


    • Scott of the First Methodist Church of Greeley, said that the first week of the new year will be the beginning of selling souls to the devil. He urged everyone to attend the daily services of the church for the first week of the new year.

    • The First Christian Church of Greeley was destroyed by an early Sunday morning fire that started in the furnace just after Sunday school was ended for the children of the church. Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $40,000.

    • Moses, the oldest horse in northern Colorado, died yesterday at the age of 35. Owned by Sir Cecil and Lady Moon, the horse had traveled the world before being retired at Log Cabin, Colo., north of Fort Collins.

    • In southern Guinea, the greatest luxury that can be placed before a guest is a pot full of roast boa constructor steaks.

    • According to writers from newspapers in the east, if you wan to get rich from your writing, write the story that will make the reader feel more "up" than "down."
