Irene Cara, 'Flashdance,' 'Fame' singer, dead at 63
Irene Cara, award-winning singer, songwriter and actor won an Academy Award for 1983's 'Flashdance... What a Feeling'
Irene Cara, award-winning singer of popular '80s songs "Fame" and "Flashdance...What a Feeling" has died. She was 63.
A statement was posted on early Saturday morning from her official Twitter account on behalf of her publicist. The cause of death is "currently unknown."
"It is with profound sadness that on behalf of her family I announce the passing of Irene Cara," the statement said.
"The Academy Award winning actress, singer, songwriter, and producer passed away in her Florida home. Her cause of death is currently unknown and will be released when information is available."

I remember her character as Alex Haley's mother in 'Roots the Next Generation' and being pleasantly surprised she played the role well. She was gorgeous and could act, I enjoyed the movie 'Fame'. That song Flashdance, What a Feeling, stayed in the music rotation on radio for several years. IMO, it's a classic. I hope Ms Cara knew the Lord.

Aw sad. Normally when they don't have the cause of death and they're still relatively young it's not good.

Yes, I hope it wasn't drug related. But I'm thinking it may be COVID related or the vaccine.
