    100 Years Ago, for the end of June, start of July 1922, From the pages of the Greeley Tribune-Republican newspaper:


    Edit Note: The visiting professor was quite impressed by the number of Greeley people who showed up for his lecture, and he said "Are your townspeople so interested in science?" Editor: "Not so much, but my compositor, who set the type for your ad, left the 's' out of the title of your lecture, 'Cosmic Forces' so it read 'Comic Forces.'"

    The legal age to make out a will in most states is 21. But in California, youngsters can legally make out their will at age 18.

    A prominent Eaton citizen was found in the Poudre River this week after he tried to cross the river in his car. His car was stuck in the water, and the driver was laying on the bank of the river. He was drunk and police found empty whiskey bottles in his car. He was arrested for Public Drunkenness."

    Greeley barber shops will all be closed on July 4th. However, they will stay open until 9 p.m. on July 3.

    A Weld County jury deliberated for 26 hours before telling the judge they couldn't agree on a verdict. It was a case of cattle rustling, and the judge closed the case and released the suspect without further charges. The judge also reprimanded the jury for not doing a better job.

    At the horse races at Island Grove Park, Police Officer Walter Lininger saved a woman and her children from a stampeding horse. The officer risked his life by getting between the horse and the family, and he was knocked down and bruised. He is recovering nicely.

    The 4th of July was a big hit in Greeley, with about 10,000 people taking part in the celebrations. Children ate ice cream and set off cannon crackers, sky rockets, whirligigs and torpedoes. Police and sheriff's deputies arrested no children, and no one was hurt.
