Suffering major losses some retailers are employing this backward strategy to get customers to purchase their goods instead of stealing them. They are offering BOSO specials on certain items in their stores. BOSO or Buy One/Steal One is their new approach to skyrocketing theft. Mangers say this has already stopped some kleptomaniacs from walking away with profits from their stores. It seems to throw water on that desire to steal outright from the store. Police like the idea saying it mimics their good cop/bad cop routine in its reverse strategy confusing the thief. They walk out of the mall with a purchase and a free item they think they have stolen from the store.
