    100 Years Ago, for the fourth week of November 1921, from the pages of the Greeley Tribune-Republican newspaper:


    A rancher and butcher who operate near Nunn were arrested by the sheriff this week for illegally disposing of cattle hides and horns. By state law the hides and horns of slaughtered cattle must be kept for inspection. The two suspects destroyed the products before they could be inspected. The sheriff said the cattle, which were slaughtered, may have been rustled from another rancher.

    Today's Tribune-Republican newspaper has a special section, listing all of the citizens who are delinquent in paying their Weld County taxes. The list has 16 pages of names of citizens who haven't been paying their taxes. County officials said that the non-payment of taxes is due to financial depression.

    The basketball games between Mead and Milliken this weekend were hard-fought. The Milliken girls lost to Mead by a score of 20-14. The Milliken boys team won, 23-17.

    The Greeley O.D.O. Club did not have its regular meeting this week due to the scarlet fever quarantine.

    John entered the room where his mother, on a diet, was eating dry bread and drinking water. "Mom!" said John, "Eating bread and water? Your stomach will think you're in jail!"

    National wrestler Toots Mondt of Greeley lost his match last night to World Champion Stanislaus Zbyszko. The match lasted one hour and eight minutes.

    Someone forced open the locked door of Betts Cafeteria in downtown Greeley last night, but nothing was stolen. The burglar apparently was trying to mimic a comedy, by spreading the floor with a large amount of butter. Also, the Spanish sauce was poured all over the floor as was a lemon cream pie, also scattered on the floor.

    The manager of the Sterling Theater in Greeley is facing misdemeanor charges for placing a sign on the sidewalk in front of the theater, thus obstructing pedestrians. Greeley's Mayor C.D. Todd filed the complaint when an employee of the theater refused the mayor's order to remove the sign.

    The U.S. Senate approved the anti-beer and wine bill for the nation. It will outlaw all beer and wine in the United States unless the beverages are used in churches for sacramental purposes.
