Fake Shortages - Another Mind Trick

Here's a good one.

Spoke with someone in NY who couldn't get OATMEAL.

The last time (last week) I was shopping there was a corner display with OATMEAL stacked high and it was a BOGO.

I'm suspecting/sure of the notion that the shortages are another engineered mind trick to fool the people, instill fear. It might be interesting to compare notes, are you experiencing any "shortages"?

The only shortage I'm experiencing is from local Aldi's stores and that is Tilapia. Every time I go there is no tilapia - and I frequent two different Aldi's stores. It's weird. But there's no shortage of other things that I've noticed. After a couple of weeks of this, I just changed the fish I buy. I like tilapia because it broils up quickly.

Of course the shortage fear sparks hoarding and that in itself will create shortages.

At this time, no. But a year ago I went into a Best Buy store to get a cheap printer, and none were available.

Indeed.

I worked in a grocery store in the 70's when there were so-called sugar shortages, the shelves were always emptied but we just went out back and got more sugar. Everyone was panic buying.

No shortages here. Yet. Prices are jumping. My brother owns and operates a meat market (and I help

), he posted a pic of a whole chicken in the meat case of a local IGA. It was price marked 31.00. For real. We had a good laugh over that.

Not seeing any shortages here so far.

Last week, my friend in Michigan sent me pics of empty shelves at her local grocery store, but down here (in VA), I haven't noticed any shortages at all.

Went to Kroger today - saw no shortages

Went to Sam's today - saw no shortages. There was a limit one on toilet paper.

I didn't see any empty shelves in either store.

No real shortages here, maybe not all brands are available, but I do live in a port city.

Time will tell. One thing is for sure, the workforce is not where it was 2 years ago.
