    40,000 Americans Stranded in Afghanistan

REPORT: 40,000 Americans Stranded in Afghanistan, Biden Has No Plan For Their Return

According to new reports, up to 40,000 Americans are stranded in Afghanistan after the Taliban took control of the country after President Joe Biden's disastrous withdraw.

"An administration official who was not authorized to speak on the record told me that there are an estimated 10,000 U.S. citizens in the country, with the vast majority in or near Kabul. Some are residents, journalists or aid workers who may not want to leave," Josh Rogin wrote in the Washington Post .

"Most are scrambling to escape. Some are dual nationals or children of Americans who may not have the proper passport or visas, but the State Department has not told them how to fix their paperwork."

I don't even pretend to understand all of this, but as a casual observer, wouldn't it have made sense to slowly and covertly slip the Americans (embassy workers, journalists, missionaries, etc.) out, BEFORE announcing exactly when there was going to be a troop withdrawal?

And, whether it was sooner or later, wasn't it inevitable that once the American troops were gone, the Taliban was going to return to reek havoc again? - Why leave a "remnant" of our soldiers behind to "protect" the Afghanistans, when they would have been outnumbered, overwhelmed, and killed by the Taliban?

I wish you were an advisor to the President. You make a lot of sense.

We need to pray for those Americans left behind that they will be able to get to the airport!

Biden admin moved to dismantle protections for citizens trapped overseas months before Kabul's fall: memo | Fox News

The Biden administration moved in June to dismantle a system designed to protect American citizens trapped abroad — just months before the Taliban took over Afghanistan, stranding thousands of Americans in the Central Asian country.

Fox News has obtained the June 11 memo sent around the State Department which gave the green light on the "discontinuation of the establishment, and the termination of, the Contingency and Crisis Response Bureau (CCR)."...

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
    (Ephesians 4:17-18)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...
    (Psalm 1)

Yes, you're right, but I would note that our troops were scheduled to leave at the end of May - that was the agreement negotiated between the Trump administration and the Taliban. So, everyone knew well in advance, including Americans living there, that the troops were leaving and that the Taliban were just waiting us out. My guess is that very few thought the government would fall so quickly.

With that said, we definitely should have sorted out, in advance, the visas for the Afghans who supported us. And we should have issued stern warnings to the Americans there to get out ASAP.

It seems like the evacuation effort is picking up steam. I hope that we can get everybody out and back to the states, including all Afghans who helped us.

If this was happening and Trump was still president the press would be mercilessly criticizing him. Since it's Biden you have reporters saying 'They seem friendly but chanting death to America' like I posted in the other thread.
